It's called puffing. Puffer cars are illegal here too. Know the law and don't break it, tPOS.

ow can he ticket him if the car was in his driveway?

How do they know WHO to ticket? Any proof the owner is the one that committed this "crime". Maybe a child or spouse?

Community policing at its finest! I'm sure this is a city ordinance kinda like how you can't being walking around with glass bottles in hand in some cities' limits. However, shame on this officer for his lack of discretion. A simple knock on the door and warning would been way more effective. Instead his wastes probably 30 mins of his patrol to write the citation. probably a bottom feeder avoiding more serious calls on his queue.

It's possible it's not illegal but it's an old cop here. I know in Walker I had an old arse cop flag me down for driving with my parking lights on.

Only it's not illegal and it's called daytime running lights now and sold as an option on many cars. Not possible to turn off illegal my truck either.

That's what awesome about remote start, no keys in the ignition...

It was great when the weather was in the twenties last weekend when I had to be at work for 6:30..

Yeah, it's this, not the "shooting people" thing.

Nah I hate cops for retarded fines they issue. Living in Texas and coming home to Louisiana, I feel like I'm being hunted with all these speed traps.

That's only if it's been remotely started. Either that or my Range Rover is retarded(distinct possibility). If you've been driving and you get out with the remote and the car still on it can be driven away. It just can't be restarted.

Actually, now that I think about it, it does ding and my wife's Jeep GC does the same thing if the fob leaves the car. I know this because she always gets out with the fob while I'm still in the car, but you can keep driving.

Actually thats only partially correct. Yes you can drive off but once the car slows down, it will eventually stop. This is known as the starter kill security feature.

I've yet to have a pleasant experience with a cop. I had these two buzzcutted knuckle draggers pull me over a couple of years ago for "swerving." They got out and started flashing their lights in my car like I might have herion in my hatchback. They couldn't be anymore stereotypical. I started giggling and one of them mumbled "water u laffin at?"

I predict the police chief and the city council there will be out of a job very soon, especially considering how smug that police chief is. He came off as a straight douche.

How many times per day does an officer from this department exit their car with the engine running and the keys in the ignition...

On the other hand this dude needs to quit being poor and put a damn fence up or move to a gated neighborhood.

Its in a poor, low-middle income working class neighborhood. The person who got the ticket drives a 1997 Durango.

Cops dont drive into nice high end neighborhoods and pull this shite. They know low wage working class folks are easy targets and there wont be much blow back because these people are rarely connected and can't afford decent lawyers. These people will mostly pay one way or another. If they don't their lives will be made even more miserable in the way of more fines and even bench warrants for arrest.
