I'm sick of Houma, and the problems that came in after Katrina... they're just moving more and more of their families here... drugs and violence are dominating the news here, and it's just getting worse.

I can't wait to leave this shithole that I used to call home.

Those people are the scum of the earth and deserve to rot in prison and in hell for the rest of their lives. They should also be shot in the face

my dream in life is to be carrying and in the back of the store when something like this goes down.

Sorry bro, but that's the root of the problem. It began when they moved here, and they just keep coming and coming... bringing all their problems with them. Not to mention the illegal immigration issue, the east side of Houma is shite now, I refuse to cross the tunnel.

Houma's demographics haven't changed much since 2000. Unfortunately, the ghetto thug culture has made its way to Houma and most other small southern cities.

I grew up in Houma, lived there all my life until 5 years ago. Don't miss it. It really has changed for the worse.

That said, not too surprised there's crime on Lafayette St.

If you think violent black culture was immune to Houma pre-Katrina you are willfully ignorant.

I'm not talking about race, the violence is white and black, and I'm not saying it was never here, I'm saying it has made certain parts of town basically uninhabitable, unvisitable, and it is spreading... it's just sad.

How many Katrina evacuees are still in Houma? Jesus, probably less than 100. They have moved back or on to real cities.

The east side really has been nosediving. I lived in Bourg before I moved, so I had to pass through it every day. Still visit pretty regularly and it's just worse and worse.

So the east side has gone Mexican ghetto or is there a mix of ethnicity in that side?

I always hated Houma since I lived there back in the early 80's.

There's probably 8-10 Latino businesses on the East Side. I work and eat lunch there, haven't had a problem in 17 years but I do notice a decline. I blame it more on the crash of the oil field. Our company at one time had about 1700 employees, we hovering about 300 for the last few years.

Yeah, Katrina didn't really do anything permanent to Houma. Kinda goofy to say it did. Now some of the bayou towns that feed into Houma and the east side in general have gone to shite. But that's due to hurricanes in general, not just Katrina. And it isn't due to outside people moving in, it's due to the good people moving out leaving pure shite behind. Houma has some slightly ghetto areas, but it's been that was as long as I can remember.

"Houma Police noticed that the victim was still conscious, so he was transported to a medical facility for treatment"

What do they do with the unconscious ones?
