How do I sell shite to people who aren't buying?

You first have to find out what's the underlying reason they aren't buying. If you never find out the reason they aren't buying then you will never understand why and when they buy.

You have to make them see a reason to buy. Book the appointment with the decision maker and show them why your widget is better than what they are doing. You cans sell on price, quality, soft cost, hard cost, convenience, etc. just have to find out their buying motives once you are in the appointment.

I didn't see kolaches anywhere in there.

Take a lap.

My company will give you my info. If you then take the time to drive all the way out to bfe after calling me I'll gladly listen to your pitch before I tell you no thanks, but only if you bring kolaches and coffee.

No good boudin balls in Baton Rouge and I never get sales calls from Lafayette. So, we got frickin' kolaches.

If you listen to my pitch in person, you're sold.

(you seem like a smart guy)

After I see your operation, I might not offer you, though.
(I'm kinda smart myself.)

Sales is the key.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, happens in this country until somebody buys something.

I know what you sports learned at that fancy college from those egghead professors, but that is how the real world works.

We actually might need to meet.

My bud does onsite pin and bucket repair.

He's got a fancy line-bore welding machine and he repairs equipment at the customer's location.

I called on PMs and VPs of General Contractors for many years. I never cold called a firm whose business I was trying to earn. If they were known as MY customer in the market, meaning I got over 80% of their work, I would drop by and see whoever was not to busy if I was in the area. The most notable GC in Atlanta allowed me to bypass the lobby receptionist and go straight to the 2nd or 3rd floor where all the PM offices were located. It took me several years to earn that privilege and I knew better in the courting phase than to show up without an appointment. You sound lazy and annoying to be honest. Timing and courtesy are fundamental in sales if you want to be considered a professional in your field. People do not like to be cold called. Nothing is more offensive then someone not understanding the value of someone's time. This receptionist has to ward off your unprofessional types several times a day and she does not care to entertain you with small talk.

Yep, you are a star now we all know it.

You call someone who is asking a receptionist for her name unprofessional and make the assumption that he doesn't understand the value of time?

There are plenty of extremely successful professional sales executives in the world and there is no single path to success. We've all met coworkers who seemed like bumbling idiots who were successful and guys who looked and sounded the part who couldn't even get to their number. Some are naturals and some work hard at it, but if you are out there working hard every day trying to do things the right way, things usually work out.

A great sales guy will always have a job.

There are definitely different styles. Right now my style is suckin arse. My nerdy arse counterpart is knocking em down, all my customers are selling to national players where we don't own the business.

Hope the worm turns soon, or I'm gonna be cold calling secretaries with boudin balls and kolaches on Friday afternoon!

It's the best time to be selling because no one else is trying. When the wallet opens and the budget chasers are circling, they will take your calls first.
