Bad business or good policy?

When the receptionist will not give her name seems a little much. I mean the same companies are sending out armies of reps. Anyway challenge *accepted young lady!

more likely the rep has the information and is just too lazy to look for it.

Wait I misunderstood. So you're a salesman and you're getting pissy because people are annoyed by you?

you just don't realize how tired we get of sales reps soliciting us.

Now if you're a female and good looking, I'll see you right away. I may not buy anything, but you'll definitely get to see me.

Good policy.

For one thing, a company might have a contract with one of your competitors in exchange for a better price. They don't want a rival vendor wasting their employees' time.

Another problem is there are scammers out there who send products to companies and put "Attention John Smith" or whatever, to make it look like that person ordered something when they didn't. They need a real employee name to do that. If you don't have a relationship with the company you don't need to know employee names.

I understand not seeing a decision maker on a cold call but a receptionist not giving her first name just makes me laugh.

Did you bring some fricking kolaches? If you'd brought some fricking kolaches, then maybe you'd have had a shot.

If your caller ID is tricky enough to get me to answer and not send you directly to voicemail, then I kindly tell you to frick off. Do your homework for information.

Yep, checking your options to make sure your current vendor isn't screwing you is always a waste of time.

I've got an app where I'll call you from your office number When people start avoiding me I use it.
