ok, i'd agree with that.

This is certainly not a good look for the city. I’m curious to see / hear Latoya’s response to this. She can’t continue to duck this issue. Especially with Zurich digging now.

Is she a city employee? Why is she constantly tweeting about crimes in other cities?

I hope she goes to jail for this.

New Orleans inspectors who OK'd parts of Hard Rock Hotel weren't properly certified: records

quote:

One inspector, Bryan Cowart, appears to be certified only for residential inspections. Inspector Julie Tweeter, whose whereabouts during inspections she claimed to have completed at the Hard Rock on several days last year are now under investigation, did not receive her commercial building inspector’s license until July 2018. By then, she’d signed off on at least four early inspections at the Hard Rock site, city records show.

Not surprising, NOLA Ghana NOLA

You know it's bad when the usual suspects aren't in the thread carrying water for New Orleans.

How can you defend this woman, or the City Government, or the fricking developer, Engineers or building contractor? You cannot.

Any semblance of a remote knowledge about construction practice or engineering would have led any competent person to call a halt to construction when viewing the deflection in the recently poured slabs that was shown in the video taken by that South American worker. Hell, he knew enough about it to film it and send the video back to his father.

What happened here is criminal, no doubt. I hope people get jail time. Someone should have used their "STOP WORK AUTHORITY".

I worked for a top-5 GC as an assistant superintendent. I can attest, this happened more times than not when I'd call inspections in.

I think the most interesting part is that the inspector appears to have still been working in the same capacity as recently as two days ago.

It seems that nothing changed until the story was released yesterday.

That being said, the inspector is a very small part of the process that led to this disaster. There are many larger entities that will see their day.

That’s what I’m saying. It’s incredible. No one at the city thought it was wise to audit their end on this? Amazing.

Anytime something like this disaster happens, usually everyone goes into full CYA mode. The city didn’t do shite. No one cares? Or what? I mean there’s like multiple levels of city management that should have required an audit of their inspections on this, yet nothing.

I can tell you how corrupt the city is. Right after Katrina we were building FEMA trailer parks all over the state. Went to do one in NO and when the inspector came out he walk up on the site and talked with my guys. He went to shake hands and after the hand shake he said you failed and left. One of the local contractors on the site walked over and said you were supposed to give him $20 at the hand shake.

They called for a Re-inspection the next day and when the $20 was given he passed us.

To get a street cut permit you meet 3-4 different guys before they go into work and have to give each money to get their sign offs.

My foreman was turning in $200-$300 expense tickets a week for his cash payout to inspections/permitting.

All during the after math if Katrina. At the same time Jefferson pariah was waiving permitting fees.

Now we know why Destroya wanted the entire building demolished as soon as possible. She’s obviously trying to hide and cover things up.

I think the entire building needs to stay up until the whole investigation is completed and arrest and charges are filed.

While she may be hiding and covering up actions of city employees, I'm not sure what evidence would be found inside that building.

This is what I have said all along. The combo of an incompetent GC, incompetent engineer, and incompetent city inspector's office, is a horrific combination. The inspectors are supposed to make sure the GC doesn't cut corners. Yet here, not only did the GC cut corners, but the inspector's office cut corners as well.

That is not a good look for the city at all, and I hope Tweeter can be held responsible for gross negligence.

Now that it’s out that she was inspecting projects she wasn’t certified for I’d venture city hall just feel deep in the mud with her, officially.
