"real" doctors make mistakes, too. Symptomology wasn't taken into account - adjustment when not indicated, and terrible result. Makes headlines for obvious reasons

yes, phDs are doctors too

anyone with legitimate medical issues that goes to visit a DC is pretty silly, and DCs are laughed at by pretty much every real doctor with an MD or DO. sorry about your phony profession baw, shouldve been an ortho or neuro

I doubt that's true. Sure for serious injury, don't go to a chiropractor. But for minor, nagging injuries, and minor sports injuries a good chiropractor can do a lot of good. There's a reason that all major sports teams and athletic departments have chiropractors on staff.

Was this a playboy model from when playboy made nudes or was this a bikini playboy model? This could make or break my outrage.

I deposed that guy one time - he is, to date, the ONLY chiro with whom I've ever been impressed.

Still not going to use one, but I thought I would reinforce your point.

95% of the Chiro's give the rest a bad name. A gifted one is incredible in how they can help you get well.

Having gone to a chiro several times, I am pretty sure I know the adjustment.

Feels and looks like a move froma ninja movie in the 80's.

vertebral and carotid dissections happen from chiropractic manipulation a lot more often than they want you to know

The chiro who lived down the street from us when I was growing up is a near invalid now from crippling back pain. I thought that was ironic.

HVLA high velocity low ampmitude adjustments are definately a skill that must be performed correctly and accurately and for the correct reasons or injury is possible. Some people just cant seem to get the skill down. It really is akin to holding a raw egg against a wall with your palm and then quickly cracking the egg with a short powerful stroke but doing so in a way that does not get any egg on your hand. The key is proper isolation of the structure at the point of limitation, alignment of the structures for anatomical movement, and proper anatomically dictated vectors of short high velocity but low amplitide force.

Shotgunning technigues where you crack them one way and then the other direction too for good measure are the halmark of poor manipulation skills.

As a non subject matter expert, I have nothing useful to add on the actual medicine.

My experience is just an anecdote. I went to chiropractic care for 18 months a few years ago. I have a bad back and neck from a near fatal car crash that I was involved in a week after my 16th birthday. The pain was enough to impact my quality of life, so I paid out of pocket for care.

The chiropractor gave me immediate relief from chronic pain, most of the time, but I began to realize that I was worse off than when I ever started if I missed a visit or two.

They'll slap the title of doctor on anything these days. Makes a lot of people over confident in their abilities, and lures patients into a false sense of security.

I blame it on MDs. They shouldn't have borrowed the title from academia. Now everyone wants to have the title "doctor."
