Not sure about the rest of you here but in my school there were maybe 10-15 students that were seniors who were eligible to vote.

quote:

Chauna Banks · 0:00 Morning High School Seniors...Make sure all your classmates age 18 or older are registered to vote. 85% of those eligible to vote are registers in EBR. Are you part of the 15% that are NOT registered?????

Did you go to a small high school?

I would say around 30-40% of high school kids these days are 18 by November of their senior year.

I turned 18 during my senior year and actually registered to vote in high school gym. I assumed most people turn 18 during their senior year.

maybe so. I was taking my Birthday as the sample. How many older than 18 did you have in your graduating class?

My son is 17 and a senior and won't turn 18 until may.

What does this even mean? Is she talking about felons?

There are SOME barriers to entry to vote, but I would think they would only effect the extreme poor. Not sure what that number is supposed to mean.

They need to do away with this Motor Voter crap. You should still have to carry your a** down to the voter registrars office to enroll. If you can't put forth that effort, you don't deserve to vote.

maybe so. What would the timeframe between birthdays be for those that were never held back or failed to graduate at 18?

My wife was 17 when she graduated as well.

I went to an all boys high school, so that probably had something to do with it. Almost everyone with a summer birthday was held back for sports.

felons can vote. Also, felons with non violent charges can legally own a firearm 10 years after the end of their parole date if not convicted of any other felonies in that timeframe. in Louisiana

Most do... but how many do so before the election, or before the cutoff to register? I think the cutoff date for EBR is Sep. 30th, so really only kids that are born in October or held back a year are going to turn 18 in time to register and vote.

I turned 18 in Feb. my senior year.
