Napoleon, you are wrong. Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas is sailing all winter from NoLa but this is the last year. it left today.

I hate cruises, but my wife's family loves them so I am forced to go sometimes.

Carnival is a shitbox filled with people on the same level as your Walmart shoppers.

Unless you are a poor college kid or a Walmart shopper, skip Carnival.

Royal Carribbean is more of a middle class family line.

Skip New Orleans departure and find something better that does eastern Carib.

Celebrity isn't bad for a less family oriented experience for late 20s to 40s crowd.

Holland America is the floating upper middle class nursing home.

The nicer ships for all cruise lines sail from Miami, fort Lauderdale, or Port Canaveral.

Plus, they will go to nicer destinations.

Even with this, the Florida cruises aren't necessarily more expensive. In fact , a good number are cheaper.

Keep this in mind when planning.

Do NOT take a ride into downtown.

Trust me.

My son and I rented an apartment in Costa Maya (Mahahual) for a week a last year. It is a great little town.

This is very true. If you hop on a carnival ship in Mobil, N.O. or Galveston for 4 or 5 nights, you are cruising with trash for the most part.
The ports are garbage and the people love them some Ryans buffet.

If you do a 7 night RC or Carnival out of south FL, you are looking at a total different situation.

There is some bad with the good of Florida cruises. compared to New Orleans and other gulf side ports, you'll get a larger than desired sampling of yankees on these cruises. Also, you'll get the foreigners, too. Canadians, Germans, English will go to these ports. Not that anything is wrong with foreigners, just you can't understand them. It's easy to spot them. They are the ones who aren't overweight, the men wear speedos, and the women all have strange looking hairstyles and eyeglasses.

If you have to go on a cruise, do Royal Caribbean

But don't go on a cruise, you can go much better places for the same price and actually get to appreciate the place

Cruises are for dumbasses who want to get their passport stamped

If you have to cruise, do Seabourn. That is some next level shite, you'll never go back to the one of those mass market lines.

Yeah, those smaller high end cruises are not even close to the same experience. I know a couple even include shore excursions.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I go to Walmart but it is only for no more than 30 minutes at a time. I don't think I would enjoy spending several days in one.

People act like Carnival being full of trash is a bad thing. I went with 15 friends, we acted like assholes for a week, and I didn't care because I knew everyone there was trash that was used to it.

Seabourn includes excursions and even airfare. I think regent does as well. One of the many take-a-ways from Seabourn was that their excursions were great and cultural, not a trip to margaritaville.

That and the service, if you're standing in the waist deep water and want a drink a server in full dress will walk into the water and bring your drink so you don't have to move.

Carnival owns Seaborn as well. I was at their HQ two weeks ago. They are operated by HAL
