Big difference between Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Not comparable.

This is the right answer. Princess an RC are fairly equivalent.

Carnival is more "fun" with more drinking and things to do. RCCL is nicer with more upperscale dining options and better shopping and more activities.

Noreweigen is for older people and Celebrity is for people who want to dress up 24/7.

People will say Cruises are trashy, but F-them. You can get a 3,000 ft^2 cabin on a cruise and a private butler with a private hot-tub and never even have to mingle with the "lower class"

Not really, both are cheap lines. NCL is older and less partiers, but both have poors on the ship.
The truth is 7 day and longer cruises are rarely trashy, the shorter the cruise the cheaper it is, the more "lower class" people on the boat.

A 3 day cruise would be the worst in that regard.

only NCL and CCL sail out of NOLA now. The best ship out of NOLA is the dream.

Stick to Nachi Cochum in Cozumel, Little French Key in Rotan and do your shopping at Costa Maya... You will have a great time, and feel pampered at those two All Inclusive port stops,

RCCL without question is better than Carnival.

Went on my first cruise this past spring...Carnival cruise lines...ship was really out dated, kind of a 70's disco theme. Food was great, plenty of booze, had a great time, but I have been called white trash a couple of times

Cunard for the win.

However, they don't sail out of New Orleans.

The NCL out of New Orleans is a great cruise. We're going again on it next month. It has 4 ports and they are all really good stops. You only spend a couple of days at sea, the rest you are in port all day. We've gone on this cruise every year the last 4-5 years.

Never had a problem getting booze on board with rum runners.

This!

I've cruised many times and RCCL is the way to go. Don't be cheap. Book a cabin on a higher deck, with a balcony. I prefer to be in front of the ship and as close to the highest deck as possible.

This is us on Princess, up high and near the front of the ship. Our favorite location.

Going on my first Royal Caribbean cruise in a few weeks out of Ft. lauderdale.

Carnival doesn't appeal to me at all.

Have not been on RC, but have many cruises with Princess and they are comparable. You will have a great time I'm sure.

Yes! The QM2 isn't even a cruise ship, it's better. It's an oceanliner.

Do NOT take a ride into downtown.

I liked downtown Costa Maya better than the dock area. To each his own I guess!
