I sure wont. If you had called me when you and Kelsi got cupcakes at the store RIGHT NEXT TO MY HOUSE maybe I would have but now I refuse!

Sorry, I had to look at all of her FB photos. I know I have never met her and never will but goddamn she is hot! WELL DONE! You need to get that back, I don't care how crazy or evil she may be!

Algebra may just be the stupidest fricking subject ever invented. There is nothing in algebra that pertains to anything one does after the stupidest fricking subject is over. It is simply an exercise of mental masturbation to see who can play the game and who cannot.

You could just plug in the choices if you can't figure out how to solve for X.

I don't have a pen and paper or I would help. Sorry.

Distribute the x through the revenue term. Move everything to one side.

You'll get something like 0.2x^2-20x+460.80=0

Quadratic Formula.

Done.

-0.2x^2 + 20x - 460.8 = 0

Now apply the theory they taught you day 3 of class and solve.

Why come to an LSU board to ask this when the human inbred genome was solved at Alabama

C is the answer. Simplify it down 20X - .2X^2

You can either graph it or just substitute for X as it's multiple choice.

Sigh. Very well. I will answer it because you seem like a nice guy, and I have a good friend who gives me a ticket to LSU-Bama in Tuscaloosa every 2 years.

This can be boiled down to a simple quadratic equation.

Revenue = -0.2 x^2 + 41 x
Cost = 21 x

Profit = Revenue - Cost
Profit = -0.2 x^2 + 20 x

When is profit > 460.80 ?

It's when -0.2 x^2 + 20 x - 460.80 > 0.

Use the quadratic formula to solve for when -0.2 x^2 + 20 x - 460.80 = 0.

That happens at x = 36 and x = 64.

The derivative of the profit equation is -0.4x + 20, and is negative for 36 and positive for 64.

The second derivative of the profit is -0.4 for all values of x.

Therefore you know that you have an upside down parabola that only has positive values for profit (minus the 460.80) between values of 36 and 64.

Therefore the correct answer is C.

x(41-0.2x)-21x = 460.8

-0.2x^2 + 41x - 21x - 460.8 = 0

-0.2x^2 + 20x - 460.8 = 0

Use your favorite method of calculating the quadratic equation:

Answer: 36 & 64

R = 41x - 0.2x^2
C = 21x

R - C >= 460.80

41x - 0.2x^2 - 21x = 460.80

205x - x^2 - 105x = 2304

x^2 + 100x + 2304 = 0

2304 = 9*256 = 3^2*2^8 = 3^2*2^2*2^6 = (3^2*2^2)*2^6 = 36*64

x^2 + 36x + 64x + 2304
x(x+36) + 64(x+36) = 0
(x+36)(x+64) = 0

So the issue I've gotten here is that the values that solve this equation are x = -36 and x = -64. I assume the answer is C and that I just screwed up my signs.
