(x(41-0.2x))-21x=460.80
(41x-0.2x^2) – 21x = 460.80
-0.2x^2 + 20x – 460.80 = 0
0.2x^2 - 20x + 460.80 = 0

Quadratic equation

(20+/- (sqrt((-20^2)-(4*0.2*460.80)))) / (2*0.2)
(20+/- (sqrt(400-368.64))) / (0.4)
(20+/- (sqrt(31.36))) / (0.4)
(20+/-5.6)) / (0.4)
(25.6)) / (0.4) or 14.4/0.4
64 or 36

The cost of each calculator is $21. How many graphing calculators must be sold to make a profit ( revenue - cost ) of at least $460.80?

I'm sure this has been solved.. But you can do this very easily on a spreadsheet.

BTW answer is C

36 Calculators = Revenue of $1,216.80 and cost of $756, making profit = $460.80
