re: Came Home To Front Door Open

In college, we made a deer hunt and drove back to our apartment. I leaned my brand new rifle against the TV stand when unloading the truck and didn't think anything of it. Went to class the next morning. Came back at like 3 in the afternoon to a wide open door. I had locked it, but never fully closed it. Thank God I lived in a good, quiet complex. Not a single thing missing, including the gun which was the first thing you saw through the open door.

Someone is probably hiding in a closet and waiting for you to go to bed.

I'd lock every dead bolt and window so they can't get out without breaking something. Then check every inch of your room and closet and barricade yourself in your room tonight.

Call the cops and ask if they can come walk through it real quick

CSB: in college when I shared an apartment or house with people, I would always keep a dummy toothbrush in the bathroom and a real one in my bedroom. That way if someone put it in their arse or something I'd be fine.

Had the same thing happen to my roommate in college, ppl love to frick with toothbrushes

Call cops and ask if they can come check it out for you, or go to a neighbor who does own a gun and ask them to come protect you

Maybe the mailman opened it.

Ain't no way I am going to bed until every inch of that house is checked. I like the cops idea. When I am not really suspicious but just checking after leaving something unlocked, I make rounds with a bat. Probably not a great idea but I have a pretty good swing.
