Starts with an "I"....sounds like a compass direction when said correctly.

I would be more specific as "Tra-Haw".

"Tray-Hand" is also the redneck version. Knew people in Baker and Tioga that said it that way. Honkies.

I find that these things also get unnecessarily complicated by "Cultural Pride Guy." Cultural Pride Guy may have taken one French class at USL 30 years ago, but he's going to spend the rest of his life correcting everyone's pronunciations, including telling you that your family's been saying your own damned name wrong for a few hundred years. "Land-ree? Ha ha, you mean La-Awn-duh-woo!" Go away, Cultural Pride Guy.
