I am no tree hugger, but come on man. I had a neighbor who would change his car oil over the storm drain.

Joseph May, 23, was on his way to pick up food for his family at a Chili’s when he saw the employee pushing a container of oil across the Burger King parking lot at Lantana and Jog roads. In the video, which May posted on social media, May narrates what the employee is doing as he flips the container to dump the oil in the drain. The employee doesn’t appear to defend his actions.
“It was steaming,” May of suburban Lake Worth told The Palm Beach Post. “You could see chunks of fried goods, particles. It was black.”
May went into the Burger King, while still filming, and asked to speak to a manager. Other employees pointed to a woman who refused to respond to May except to tell him to stop filming. Another employee, a younger man, said “sorry” to May.
The location’s owner, Johannah Estep, told The Palm Beach Post that the employee did pour the oil down the storm drain, and the store’s general manager has since been fired for “performance-related issues.”

The situation is now mostly an enforcement issue through Palm Beach County, Mahon said, since the county holds the permits.
“So the onus is on them to make sure this is cleaned up,” he said. “They are responsible for enforcing everything involved in the laws here. So if they fail to complete their responsibility, we would step in.”
As far as if the restaurant’s actions were illegal, Mahon said: “It’s safe to say that this is breaking a regulation.”

Wouldn't expect anything less from a fine dining establishment such as that

LOOKIE THERE RIGHT DOWN THE DRAIN, HOW BOUT THAT

Other than screwing up the draining system (maybe), it's not some huge environmental issue. It's not like motor oil. That's a food based oil, like peanut oil or vegetable oil.
ETA: I'm not advocating pouring it in the drain, but I don't think it's all that harmful either.

Why isn't someone showing up to take their oil for biodiesel?

If everyone started pouring oil down the drain, nature would likely evolve to handle it. This is how you science.

My dad would do that after changing oil in the vehicles.

Yes Oil in the drain is too much to tolerate but regulations are a slippery slope sometimes.
Does he know that soap, like the kind he probably uses to wash his car is also not allowed?

It's vegetable oil, not motor oil. Climate and rainfall of FL will take care of it.

What's the problem with doing that?

Wonder how much tax payer $$ this investigation is going to cost...

He should've instead called Safety-Kleen™. The used oil disposal experts.

There are companies that pay top $$ for used oil from restaraunts.

is he sure about that, could be a grease trap

First of all, why video this egregious act instead of stopping to prevent it.
Secondly, I'm sure your standard run of the mill fry cook doesn't know jack shite about storm drains or the environment. Not that they're not at fault, but this would be a management problem imo.
