Why do we always mention black culture as the root of all our problems?

Our society is largely white and many of you are unhappy? Perhaps it's time to delve into the "pathology" that exists in the majority culture as opposed to "black pathology."

James Baldwin once said .

quote:

What white people have to do, is try and find out in their own hearts why it was necessary to have a n****** in the first place, because I'm not a n******, I'm a man, but if you think I'm a n******, it means you need it.

Because culture trumps everything.

So this is really my main point. Single parent home make things worse for people in poverty. However, it's not the underlying issue, just a symptom of a greater issue.

Black people were treated terribly for a long time. No one disputes that, but we now have laws that treat minorities fairly (and arguably more than fairly). White people can't fix the black community's problems anymore because their problems are rooted in their culture. Only they can change that. It's why they need new leadership to help them.

It's their problem. They helped create and helped manifest it in the beginning. They should know why they wanted all this in the first place and what they need to do to fix this stuff that causes so much turmoil to their lives.

You couldn't have a discussion with him. Once he doesn't agree with a view he'll only start to talk over you and constantly cut you off.

Gary is not capable of having a factual discussion, period.

Not black or white but good or evil. Until the crime stops no one will invest into this side of the city period. Ive lost half of my family to violence on the north side for things that dont even make sense. Its so sad I left the state and all my friends are leaving the state. People dont want change down there they just have there hands out looking for someone to rebuild there communities up for nothing. The unsolve murder rate is ridiculous. Everybody want to be gangstas instead of upstanding men and women. Life is hard in baton rouge if you have a purpose for life you either have to move to the outskirt surrounding city's or move around the white folks. Im sorry but its true.

I don't think it's "having balls" that's the issue.

The issue is
1) he will twist whatever argument you give him Into a racist statement.

2) his minions will quote you out of context, call your employer, and get you fired.

Why would I take the time to go argue why low income areas aren't flourishing. Everyone already knows why NVR is a shite hole. It has nothing to do with color and everything to do with the crime the stems from a low socioeconomic area.

Crime, single parent hood, truancy, etc aren't black people problems. They're poor people problems. It just so happens that a lot of poor people in NBR are black.

Clearly, Gravy thinks that is the white man's fault. His opinion on that will never change.

Nice pun.

Again, many of you are seemingly unhappy in a nation where the majorities culture is not of Gary's.

So perhaps there needs to be some true soul seeking as to what is bothering you. Perhaps the majorities culture is causing some ruffles for yall

It really wasn't meant to be a pun. It was a saying my philosophy professor would say in his classes.

Leslie Parms III I understand however that is an opportunity and wake up call for development of our own community with the same loyalty we showed them. This is the same way Tony's seafood started in our community and look at the support we give them.

Shan Nen Lonestarr And the ppl who own Tony's... Own a produce chain as well, but we still keep buying there, if blk folks stop supporting the company chains who keep certain aspects stagnant in the community , these things would change..... But there's no sacrifice, until it's "inconvenient" it's funny how the same family owns 2 fruit stands 1 in Zachary & the other off Perkins, but never had one in NBR...

They're bitching about Tonys not having fruit stands in NBR but Tonys is the longest standing business in NBR

White folks in this country have way more generational wealth than the average black persons.

This comparison would still show a huge gap.

So where culture (too poor, "shitty", cultures) is standardized, what is the difference now
