I see. My folks still live in BR and I've heard from them that it's pretty much a lose/lose situation when it comes to the mayor's race.

This is what I was thinking. All that headache and we, as a city, end up paying some piece of shite lawyers $78,840. I'd rather not see the money paid at all, but I'd prefer seeing it burnt than handed over to some opportunistic piece of shite with a law degree.

Who else voted against it? I'm not a fan of Delgado, but I'm glad he spoke up. If I lived in a district represented by one of those who voted for the settlement, I'd be pissed as hell. Talk about a waste of taxpayer dollars.

I am so sick of lawyers citing the "it's cheaper to settle than to fight it" argument. Settling just encourages the next BS lawsuit and the one after that. Totaled, I don't believe settling out is cheaper. We should have the reputation that we will fight tooth and nail on every lawsuit. I would rather pay out big on the few legit ones than pay out small over and over again.

Nah, cops will be ordered to take a hands off approach and the ferals will burn places to the ground then a few business owners will take things into their own hands and they will be the only ones getting charged for anything when all is said and done.
