Too many black people on the cover of your newspaper?

ETA: Saw another one of your posts. You honestly think the Advocate is targeting black people and young people? Is this the first newspaper you've ever read?

The Advocate is much better than any of the million Gannett papers accross the country in cities of the same size.

Yeah, struggling to remain relevant in an era that's passing them by.

And I really don't see how it is catering to any demographic? If anything, recapping the story could be viewed as painting a certain community and culture in a negative light.

I'm sure Boosie Boo won't be happy to see it.

He must really hate sports section during basketball season. They aren't targeting his demographic, you know.

They would be smart to. People simply don't have the paper delivered to their house anymore. They need to sell to those that buy shite at the gas station. Lower income people spend more time at the gas station counter buying cigarettes and scratch offs. In Baton Rouge, that demographic is predominantly black.

Yet yesterday the paper had stats on what zip codes had the highest murder rates in the city and that things were improving. And look at todays headline. Its funny imo.

The only reason it's on the front page is because he's a rapper and has some notoriety I suppose amongst young people, which the Advocate needs if it's going to stay in business, and the only reason it's a story is because the Advocate is making the story interesting to sell papers. Otherwise, it's no more relevant or interesting than the countless other black on black murders that happen almost daily, and definitely weekly in this city.

I'm neither young or black and I read the entire article. It was, more or less, a recap of past articles about the trials of those arraigned in various murders, in Baton Rouge, over the last 4 years. I was interested in the DA's assessment of his office's efforts in these cases.

No, anything involving a celebrity is tabloid fodder, not news.
