Why give your money away when you can read it for free online? I live in Bossier and read the Advocate online daily. Find a couple LSU articles I want to read and I'm done. Do the same with the Shreveport Times. Refuse to give them money while Guilbleau is covering LSU sports for all Gannett papers here in the state.

I still get the paper, but 9 times out of 10 the only thing I look at is the Sports page and the crossword.

Me too. I get it for the sports.

20 years ago everyone in the neighborhood got a paper. Now I look both ways down the street and of the 14 driveways I can see only one or two others has a paper.

I get it on the weekends only. Used to get it delivered daily. Hell I used to get the State Times delivered.

Everyone on my street gets it at least on the weekend. I still read it.

the advocate has gone to absolute CRAP and is catering to a very specific demographic that im not part of. as evidence, go look at todays headline. it aint news!

It "ain't news" that a local celebrity has put (successful) hits out on at least 6 people and hasn't been convicted of any of them? It's "catering to a very specific demographic" for The Advocate to report that the most popular Baton Rouge rapper (who has sold a million records) is basically a murderer? You're retarded.

I was not aware of that but apparently sound effects were mistaken for real gun fire and people scattered

I have been a long time daily subscriber. The paper has been in my home since I was a kid. Used to love the cup of coffee and morning paper.

I will not be renewing my subscription because the Advocate is no longer the paper it used to be. If I want N.O. news I go to NOLA.com The paper has not changed for the better-

So sad that the new owner does recognize this is the city of the state captiol and the home of LSU.

I will say this, someone needs to proofread better.

quote:

Driver dies, passenger injured in Livingston Parish wreck

A Baton Rouge man died in a single-vehicle wreck in Livingston Parish early Sunday, and police suspect he was speeding.

Cameron G. Bordelon, 22, died about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when he was thrown from his car on La. 16, State Police Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release.

Bordelon was not wearing a seat belt. A 16-year-old passenger was restrained in the front seat and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

Bordelon was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla north on La. 16 south of La. 1028 when he drifted left toward the raised, center concrete median, the news release says.

Bordelon overcorrected and sped off the road to the right. The Corolla overturned, smacked into a tree and rolled down an embankment into a canal.

Troopers took a toxicology sample from Bordelon to test for impairment, the release says.

The Advocate's main agenda lately seems to be pushing their shitty cartoonist, Walt Handlesman, down their readers throats
