no...not all of us. It's usually the same posters who get indignant in these types of threads.

being black doesnt give the kid a handicap or make him a special needs student like having aspergers does.

This isn't bullying, so the anti-bullying signs don't matter.

This is attempted homicide, and the offenders should be arrested, charged, and prosecuted, and their families billed for medical expenses.

Every fight I have witnessed between a regular Ed student and inclusion student, the inclusion student had instigated it.

Is it bad that I have no idea what this means?

An inclusion student is someone who has some type of issue/learning disability, but is "included" in a regular classroom setting.

What does Aspergers have to do with the story?

Kids with Aspergers are 3x (corrected) more likely to be the victims of bullying, particularly violent attacks such as this. It's relevant.

This.

As a parent this upsets me.
Id be willing to bet if you could be a fly on the wall at the bully 8th graders house, things would suddenly become much clearer.
Either pay he and his parents should face the consequences.

Does she really need to link a study for you to accept that kids with Aspergers are bullied more than those without? Just seems like common sense.

Couldn't find the 5x number, but they're still much more likely to be bullied. Kids with Asperger's are even more likely than those further down the autism spectrum.

The assailant is an eighth grader and needs to be criminally charged

People need to teach their kids not to hit

you might want to qualify that.

quote:

If your kid is a bully, it is your fault.

yeah, no. Some kids are just little shits. Some have true mental issues. Parenting is 99% of it, agreed. But not every act of a child is the fault of a parent.

quote:

No child deserves to be bullied, period.

Again, qualify this statement. A child certainly doesn't need to be bullied to the point of physical/mental abuse. But, like it or not, the rough and tumble lessons of life need to be learned at a young age and bullying is part of that. Its just that kids today have a tendency to take it to extremes relative to what previous generations experienced.

And adults. All minute political issues say hi ... kinda off topic for this thread, but just wanted to point out that it's not just kids.

Parents need to teach their kids why they shouldn't bully people.

The criminal justice system needs to teach kids that they shouldn't beat a child until they're leaking spinal fluid and their skull is fractured.

It's dismissive to classify this as bullying. It's aggravated assault, at the least.

Awesome, so now the headline is

"Aspergers kid gets beat up and then has to go home to single parent household because dad is doing 10-15 for beating up a 13 year old"
