They are all over the Cupecoy area. When you walk out of the med school at night there are a ton of little mice running everywhere and the cats just sit on the dumpster. However, it is nice when walking and you see something move out of the corner of your eye to know you don't have to worry about a snake.

They are a threatened species in TX because they roam during daylight hours looking for food and then dumb-asses who don't know any better see them and kill them.

You don't want rattlers. King snakes get the rats, owls and hawks do too. There are tons of snakes that aren't rattlers. My grandparents have had a huge uptick in rattle snakes (Hutto-Roundrock area) on their farm lately.

One of our good family friends lost their frenchie this past weekend right near there in Georgetown from a rattlesnake bite. They said they got her to the vet within 30 minutes, but the bite was in the rib cage area and too close to vital organs to do anything. Pretty rough Thanksgiving for them.

Just last Friday I walked up on a blue indigo about half a rattle snake down. The blue was about 6-7ft long and the rattler looked about 4-5ft long. We were in south texas quail hunting at the time.

The last reptile show I went to had an Eastern Indigo for $1,400. Texas Indigos go for around half that. If I see one of those bitches, I'm catching it, not filming it. They look a lot more black than blue. If the light hits them a certain way, they may have a blue sheen to them, but that pic is a bit misleading.

I saw one of those badboys crossing the road in Big Bend National Park back in around 1992...was pretty crazy to see.

There aren't a lot of people walking around at reptile shows with an extra $1,400 in their pockets, but they'll get that for it eventually (or close to it). There are heavy restrictions on Eastern Indigo sales in most states, but they are one of the most prized snakes out there. Eastern Indigos are a lot better looking than Texas Indigos - jet black with a red throat. Texas have that speckled appearance. But they do get big, and people will buy Texas Indigos because they can't afford an Eastern (or can't find one available), and they want to say they have an Indigo.

That's my dream snake. I don't want to buy one because they can be messy pets (rainforest-type pythons have a bit of a different metabolism and don't poop much so I stick with those

Is it just me or does anyone else ,when reading a snake thread, especially one with pics, suddenly start checking under the desk or table for snakes.
