one would think they'd want a few rattle snakes around for rodent control. These Indigos take out the rattler population and then what?

There is no shortage of rattlers down there.

They seem like the perfect snake.
1. They eat rattlesnakes (I wonder if they will eat a cottonmouth?)
2. They are color that is easy to see
3. THEY EAT FREAKING RATTLESNAKES.

I've seen a bunch at our ranch in south texas, but never anything close to that color. Usually they look more black or a dark, dark blue if anything.

Buy some cats or some rat traps? WGAF, I would rather have a surplus of mice than rattle snakes.

I don't know about that. St. Maarten brought in mongooses to get rid of the snake problem and now there are no snakes. The mice population exploded so they brought in alot of free cats, but they like the dumpsters better than mice. So now mice are everywhere and alot of lazy arse cats just watch them.

a quick Google image search confirms this. Also the scales on the Indigo snakes are very glossy looking in the images on Google but this snake in the video seems to have a more matte finish. Wonder if this video is altered or if it's a different breed of snake

I lived in St Maarten for two years. Never saw a mouse in my house or any place, and I did enjoy the fact that you never had to worry about snakes anywhere you went
