The list of companies/industries that do the same is long but you probably don't have a problem with it. Car manufacturers weigh cost vs lives saved for new safety features, for example. They know a certain number of people will die but a certain number is okay when a certain number of cars is sold.

Okay A half gallon of Blue Bell costs what a pint of Ben and Jerry's has. If you are buying for more than one person you need more than a pint.
