Black man with hoodie pulled over with concealed gun tells his recent Cop story

So, I’m driving to my office to turn in my weekly paperwork. A headlight is out. I see a Tucson Police Department squad vehicle turn around and follow me. I’m already preparing for the stop.
The lights go on and I pull over. The officer asks me how I’m doing, and then asks if I have any weapons.
“Yes, sir. I’m a concealed carry permit holder and my weapon is located on my right hip. My wallet is in my back-right pocket.”
The officer explains for his safety and mine, he needs to disarm me for the stop. I understand, and I unlock the vehicle. I explain that I’m running a 7TS ALS holster but from the angle, the second officer can’t unholster it. Lead officer asks me to step out, and I do so slowly. Officer relieves me of my Glock and compliments the X300U I’m running on it. He also sees my military ID and I tell him I’m with the National Guard.
Lead officer points out my registration card is out of date but he knows my registration is up to date. He goes back to run my license. I know he’s got me on at least two infractions. I’m thinking of how to pay them.
Officers return with my Glock in an evidence back, locked and cleared. “Because you were cool with us and didn’t give us grief, I’m just going to leave it at a verbal warning. Get that headlight fixed as soon as possible.”
I smile. “Thank you, sir.”
I’m a black man wearing a hoodie and strapped. According to certain social movements, I shouldn’t be alive right now because the police are allegedly out to kill minorities.
Maybe…just maybe…that notion is bunk.
Maybe if you treat police officers with respect, they will do the same to you.
Police officers are people, too. By far and large, most are good people and they’re not out to get you.
I’d like to thank those two officers and TPD in general for another professional contact.
We talk so much about the bad apples who shouldn’t be wearing a badge. I’d like to spread the word about an example of men who earned their badges and exemplify what that badge stands for.

I like these stories. It's true, even if they are wrong, calm down and be respectful. Never ever has being an a-hole helped anyone out in a police situation. You know I'm not a bootlicker, but the common denominator in all of these incidents is non-compliance. Not complying will result in extra charges. While i do think some things are excessive, just listen and comply.
You CAN argue your way out of it, later on in court.

so many have this poor attitude of i don't have to bow down to you.. yet if they would just understand it's for safety and a little respect can go much further than this assumption of profiling/racism.. then things can go much smoother..
and i don't even mean this as with only black people.. there are white people just out to prove a point and try to show a police officer up as well. i would rather just answer the question or safety commands being asked of me than further escalating the ordeal.. it's just common sense..
also, this guy was in the military. the police in general have tremendous respect for those that serve no doubt and that is just a little added bonus that is well earned imo.
i remember as a teen walking to court for a traffic ticket and a military recruiter of some sort telling me come join us and we'll take care of that ticket for you.
and i don't even mean this as with only black people.. there are white people just out to prove a point and try to show a police officer up as well. i would rather just answer the question or safety commands being asked of me than further escalating the ordeal.. it's just common sense..

There is an urban definition of it now, but that is absolutely not the manner in which it was being used to describe RG3.. That really was the start of the use of the word really.. Not sure who exactly made the word up.. but Parker got fired from ESPN because of it.

You got pulled over because your car's headlight was not in working order . You're suppose to check your vehicle out before leaving to make sure it's in legal running order. Not only for other peoples safety but for your own as well. Should have thanked the officer .
But at least he acted cool and calm and didn't freak out.

I usually put my headlight on in the morning and see if I can see the reflection on the other car.
A few weeks back one light was out. Glad I caught that before dark.
I hate driving behind people with one brake light and no one changes the third brake light when it goes out, meanwhile I have this brake light.

crap just checked, down to $10 on Amazon, $13 prime. Basically it's a small cylinder device you attach to your license frame. It projects a triangle in fog and a line on the ground at night. Makes you really visible.

I think they are going to catch on. You don't see it at all in the day time. At night you get a line. You can set the distance. Driver behind you sees line on the ground.
Another added benefit is if you have a back-up camera that does not have the guide lines, it give you a solid reference to how far back you can go.

There are other brands, it's $13 on Amazon.

You can run a switch and only turn them on when it's foggy. It helps out in bad rain and fog. Makes you really visible, but it's not too bright.
