I don't have an issue with diversifying the STEM field, specifically encouraging women to take a look into those careers when the field's growth has been huge. IMO that's not the issue.
The issue is when you feel the need as a "group" to tear down another in order to push your own's success. The bitching from black feminists over "too many white feminists" at recent protests and marches is another good example. Tearing yourself apart from the inside is what caused the mess we have at the moment.

I believe Apple had 25% blacks in certain positions and got sued for lack of diversity despite having twice the black population rate.

Anyone complaining about diversity in science is not involved in science. Walk in to any lab at LSU, and white people will be the minority. Foreign students and minorities flock to academic science. Indian and Asian grad students and young professors are starting to become extremely common at LSU and most other universities. Women are also incredibly common in labs, most labs have multiple women working in them, and there are many women professors in STEM fields now. The only minority not represented to the same extent is black people

Well he's not a scientist to begin with so that makes sense.

"scientist", "science guy", potato potato.

The only way we can stop racism is if every black person is a doctor or CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
We are so close...

Burn in racial unity and prosperity, you mean.

I support seeing less of Bill Nye whenever possible.

He's not, yet he's the most well-known American "scientist", except maybe Neil degrass Tyson. Shows how much our society cares about science. I'll give these women that they added credit for being involved in good work, but they're not really deserving of being the figureheads of the March on their own merit. One did a study that found contaminated tap water in Flint (not a scientific breakthrough by any stretch, but good work to find it and alert the town), the other was involved in the work that led to mass-produced insulin (but wasn't in charge of the research from what I can tell)

If white people wanted to they could make 13% of the population be 50% of every industry in America, but we all know they don't want to waste their science skills on shite like that because it would compromise their white patriarchy.

It must be led by a gay transgender Muslim who is also crippled and suffers from Autism and ADHD.

That's not the right type of diversity.

It's weird to think that if I never got on the internet that I'd never come across any of this retarded shite
The internet has given Retards like the "Sammy's girl" and the "Willie's girl" a platform to try to ruin someone's life because they didn't get their way.

I love when progressives bitch about how white males dominate the sciences. I'd be glad to invite them to my micro lab to count cultures and stain some smears but it seems they'd rather major in gender studies and blog about the patriarchy

I want to say I read somewhere not too long ago that LSU has some of the more diverse STEM majors in the country. So I don't know that it's necessarily the national norm given what some have seen elsewhere. I know here in Kentucky, we're just now really seeing more women involved in those fields but only because that seed has been planted earlier in their academic lives.
Really, until the last 5-10 years ago K-12 public schools here had an incredibly bad habit of pushing females away from STEM as a career because of an old self-perpetuating stereotype that boys are more successful in math/science and girls are more successful in reading/writing.
That all said, you can still do things to encourage diversity in certain fields without tearing down the white, male student sitting next to you.
