Uptown, NOLA. It's a very small town or was.
You're getting downvoted but there's actually a lot of truth in this and I always tell out-of-towners when they come here. A lot of the old neighborhoods in New Orleans feel and live like small towns. Nobody ever comes and goes. The family's go generations back. There's tons of little small businesses nestled in the neighborhood to serve that specific community. Everybody passes down stories of the neighborhood. There's a real connection and pride for each individual neighborhood by the residents there. You can live, work, entertain, eat and die and never leave your neighborhood in New Orleans. I know people that have.
A lot of the neighborhoods in New Orleans kind of organically formed to be self-sustaining. Possibly because it was an immigrant city for a long time being a big port city so each neighborhood kind of wanted their own shite and were culturally isolated though not geographically isolated. That and a lot of these neighborhoods were actually cities that were annexed by the City of New Orleans as it expanded along the river. I noticed a similar build to the city of St Louis. Lot different than more modern cities like Dallas and Houston that were built as developer enclaves.

Farmerville is a nice little town and Lake D'Arbonne is about is good as it gets for fishing. Farmerville certainly has charm and the people in the surrounding area are generally good people. Like any small town in Louisiana, it has its issues. Because of the chicken plant and several chicken farms, you have a large population of migrant workers, but they're pretty good people too.

Believe it or not,Jennings was a pretty good place to live and grow up in the 70s-early 80s. But I sure as hell wouldn’t go back there now.

6. Farmerville
I spent a lot of time here in my youth, my family has a lake house on D'arbonne and my grandparents lived close. I still fish "The Bone" when I can get back, love it up there.
Ruston is a nice little town until you grow up and realize there's nothing to do.

Only thing worth even getting off the Ville Platte exit is Chicot State Park, otherwise it's a shite hole.
Can't believe White Castle didn't make this list if Ville Platte is #1.

Port Eads should be on the list.

1. Ville Platte - has become a complete shithole according to friends that are from there
2. Covington - sprawl and invasion from the Southshore has ruined it
3. Natchitoches - should be on the top of this list
4. Minden -
5. Gonzales - not for 15 years at least
6. Farmerville -
7. St. Francisville - should be number 2 on the list

More likely to get shot or robbed there than New Orleans right now.
Ok I'm exaggerating a little bit but Cottonport has turned into a dump.

I grew up in Minden in the eighties and it had that good hometown feel. I think it has gotten shittier lately. Il
