70s Winnsboro
They had really good football teams in the mid 70's when Farmerville was in the same 3A district with Winnsboro. Wossman, Richwood, Rayville, etc. We moved up to 3A, when I was a junior, in 1976. They won, or finished 2nd both years I played against them.
They played in the 1A state championship in 1967 when their coaching staff included Charles Murphy and assistants J.W. Mercer, Bobby Collins and Don Easterling. Franklin Sun

Was Clay Bohannon there at the time? He was my HS coach at Airline, but was previously there. I believe.

Covington 20 yrs ago.
For me it was 40+ years ago.
I loved growing up here.
So did both of my sons (now in their 20's).
As for now, traffic can suck at times. But it is still a great place to live by in large imho.

I grew up in Minden in the eighties and it had that good hometown feel. I think it has gotten shittier lately. Il

I grew up in Vidalia. In my backyard was the town recreation complex. School playground across the street. 4 blocks from the river. 200 yards from fields and woods. Neighbor had a pool. I had it pretty good as a kid.

sunset / grand coteau / opelousas WAS like Mayberry back in da day, always as much fun or innocent trouble as you could ever want, not so much anymore...

I grew up in Ruston and sent summers at Lake Claiborne. Fun times.
Just bought a house on Lake Claiborne and hope my grandkids get a chance to do some growing up there. My youngest kids still at home are 17 and they still have a lot of growing up to do so I guess that applies as well.

Haughton beats Minden by a country mile.

I agree the further you go back the better. 20 yrs ago is when it started to change rapidly.

Baker was great in the 1970's/early 80's.
Not anymore.

Best friend in college grew up there. Have been to visit numerous times. I’ve always thought it would have been a cool place to grow up

Haughton was a damn good town for a long time. It seems to have changed a lot though lately.

The area around Carrollton/St Charles neighborhood was once called of course Carrollton. At some point, maybe late 1880s was annexed into the city.
Also Milneville was a town on Bayou St John lakefront back to 1830s IIRC. Now only Milne St is left.
There's probably more...
