Planning a trip with a few friends for the upcoming ski season and Beaver Creek is being considered as an option. I've never been, but it seems on the smallish side, more like a resort than an actual town (ex: Breck). My question is will we get bored there in the evenings and be tempted to drive to Vail every night, or are there adequate drinking/dining options to keep us entertained? We're talking like a 4 day trip so relatively short.

Yes, but maybe not every night.

ETA: Don't drive, use ECOTransit buses

Are you and your friends rich and fancy? If yes, then there is plenty of stuff to do in Beaver Creek.

If not, there are half a dozen bars and restaurants in Avon at the base of the mountain.

Its more of a rich family place than a 20 yr old party place. The skiing is great though & the facilities are all superb. I've been the past 2 years.

Avon has lots of restaurants and way cheaper than Vail. Free shuttles from town up to base, takes like 10 min.

Beaver Creek is a great mountain imo. And way less crowded than Vail or Breck.

What's the bus schedule? I'm assuming you're just talkinga bout between the two mountains (BC and Vail).

Beaver Creek is nice. Plenty of good restaurants and fewer crowds. Reminds me of Telluride but not quite as nice as Telluride IMO.

You'll have to look up the winter schedule. It'll take you between Avon and Vail, either Lionshead parking garage or Vail Transit Center, depending on where in Vail you want to go. everything is walking distance from those stops.

Your assessment is relatively accurate. BC has several good restaurants, and the skiing is great/challenging, but not as much to offer with regard to bars/nightlife. For a a group of friends, you may be better off heading to Vail or Breck. And you can enjoy the skiing at BC with an Epic Ski Pass, so no worries there.

You can look it up online but the bus service in CO is very good. You'll have plenty of buses running between BC and Vail.

How old are you? I have never skied beaver creek, but I have visited the town. its cute, its just a good bit smaller than the other resort towns.

while breck isn't the best mountain skiing wise, its got the best go out scene. Its affordable, and there are people from all walks of life. And a ton of good food/drinks.

The vail go out scene fricking blows. I have a friend that lives there and we swear that we will never visit vail again. Just filled full of douchebags.

of course, do you want to ski or do you want to party? If you want to party, go with breck. If you want to ski, vail is probably your best option.

We want to ski first and not necessarily party hard, just be entertained in the evenings, have stuff to do.

Then avoid Breck. Have a look at Steamboat also.

Pain in the arse to get to Steamboat.

Unless you fly straight in which is like $600

I would head to SLC and stay somewhere in Cottonwood heights. Great mountains and endless entertainment options right there. If you want the "resort" experience (along with the costs) head over to Park City.

BC is a nice place but smallish mountain with lots of rich folks in gigantic houses. nightlife is non existent IMO.

Vail is the best skiing of the three mentioned. night life is plenty good with a few bars/restaurants all clustered together.

Breck mountain is super packed. the town is fun but not worth giving up the skiing at vail just to have good bards/weed.

all of the ski places have stuff to do, its just how much stuff you have, and how expensive it is.

Oh and steamboat is awesome. Its a great little town, and since its harder to get to weeds out some of the fricktards.

IMO, it doesn't get any better. Only negative about Telluride is the airport closes too often and you have to land in Montrose.

I've been. Def resort style built around the mountain. Loved it though, but I was there for the snowboarding not the nightlife.

Agree Telluride is great. That area is my favorite part of CO.
