See my previous comment. You are misreading the 5th amendment.

Alright, but if someone charges at the President they shouldn't be shot dead by secret service because they haven't had due process?

Seems like this one has some serious exceptions.

Only Wiki could turn an Area 51 thread into a debate about the 5th amendment

I need some good debate today.

But come on, you know its an interesting discussion.

Should the government have the ability to kill on sight people that are trespassing, especially considering the 5th amendment protection of due process?

Oh yeah, I'm sure there are many legal exceptions that have been carved out over the years. I don't know them all. There may even be one related to trespassing on military installations.

I'm just really trying to get a discussion going. I'm not arguing facts, just concepts.

I like how they are making a point to say this.

WTF do they think would happen? That the guards would run off and put their M16s on a rack while they settle down for tea with foreigners who intentionally trespass on a highly classified government installation?

I must have reading comprehension problems.

i'd say a nice shot to the head is just compensation for for that.

Maybe, but if there is an exception good for them for not killing the film crew and using some common sense.

yes

No controversy. I was active duty at the time and had been working for the agency for 2.5 years. I was actually accepted to become a computer crimes special agent and was sent to DC3 for my initial training. Then, once I signed the final paperwork, I was going to be sent to FLETC to become a credentialed special agent.

But my conscience got the best of me and I just realized that I would make a really bad law enforcement officer because there are too many laws I do not agree with and I couldn't in good conscience enforce them.

So I applied for the early release program the Air Force was offering at that time, and the rest is history.

The ability? certainly? The right? not necessarily.

Taken from a DoD directive......

They weren't American citizens so they don't have those rights.

Again we apply our Bill of Rights to ALL not just selective application.
