That'd put me at a solid 9 inches

I usually remove it when I'm not using it. I'll bust a knee or a shin every time if I don't.

My 1/2 ton always has a 2" ball and my 3/4 ton always has a 3 ball and either a gooseneck or 5th wheel hitch attached.

I take mine out. I have no real issue with people who don't provided they maintain some spatial awareness.

When they back into a parking spot near a sidewalk and stick that shin busting SOB out over the sidewalk it drives me crazy. Though it's not funny if you or your kid hits it. I always remove mine.

My truck has it on 24/7 for over 5 years. Use a locking pin and roll

Used to not - but I left it on one time and got rear ended. 0 damage to me but his front end was all jacked up. Left it on after that and got rear ended two more times in a 2 month period. 0 damage to me all 3 times - them, not so much. I never take it off now.

Mine is always on and locked on my LX. I'm not sure where the key is. Looks trashy but I don't care.

Hitch? No, but my 12 ton D ring stays on cause it's welded on, baw. Never know when one of my baws needs to be pulled out of a mud hole. Blow black smoke too. Meet me at sonic if you got a problem with it.

It stays on. Some count poked a hole in her radiator with it about 90 days ago.

Mine stays in. I got rear-ended a couple of times and enjoyed added protection. Fricks up the other car pretty bad though.

I total a 4 door car like that. I bet they won't ride so close again.

No. It causes problems for me off-road

This!

But I leave mine on to save my bed from getting crashed or bumper folded in.
