I've got a nice LSU hitch cap locked on when not pulling a boat.

Mine stays on. Ive been rear ended twice at red lights and drove away scratch free both times.

I have a Trimax Razor 8" Stainless Drop Hitch held on with a Bully Stainless ball and a MasterLock stainless receiver lock. No rust here.

Mine also stays on. Just last week some chick hit it in a parking lot. She had a nice hole in the back of her car.

If I think about it and not planning on taking the boat out, I'll take it off. It is usually off more than it is on.

When I was a kid I used to run around my parents neighborhood almost every night. Some baw in the trashy part of the neighborhood used to always leave his hitch pin in. He got a bigger, newer truck at one point, and the hitch stuck out in the sidewalk. Jacked my knee on it in the dark.

I bet he wasn't happy to find the nice long scratch along his tailgate the next day.

Yes cuz it's a 3 way ball that cost like $300 so it was locked on there.....and I've since lost the key to the lock

Who the frick steals a hitch? I've never locked mine on any vehicle. Never even thought of someone stealing. If a person is stealing shite from trucks I doubt they have a trailer and if they have a trailer I doubt they don't already have at least one hitch. Hell I have about 5 of them in the garage.

I leave mine there. It's locked on, and I don't feel like having to take it on and off all the time, especially with hunting season coming on strong. Plus, I've actually had mine save my bumper before when I got rear-ended.

No. It's easy to take it on and off.

Morons who back into parking spots with 16" of trailer hitch hanging over a sidewalk should be shot.

I do cuz like some others on here said it comes in handy when the bimbo texting behind you rear ends you. Didn't get a scratch and it messed her front end up good.

It depends on what weight they're rated for but $300 does sound high, even for a 30,000# pintle hook 3-way. But you use a locking pin for a heavy duty hitch.

Oddly enough, having a trailer hitch on your vehicle negates the way your truck is supposed to react in an accident. Instead of allowing impact to be absorbed by the bumper as designed, it basically stiffens the vehicle, forcing impact through the frame and can cause more severe soft tissue injuries to the truck driver. For your 5-10 mph parking lot accident, you're good, but when the sorority girl slams into you faster, your neck may wind up catching the worst of it.
