Some pussy RA'ed the pic that is the center of this entire debacle. This is what's wrong.

Are you kidding? So someone could get in trouble for posting that pic here? It's a freakin kid dancing, having a good time and then the word "****s" is on it. Is this actually not allowed?

not necessarily. And not in this context either. But the use of this word isn't exactly a black and white issue. I think anyone here in the corporate world knows that the use of the n word towards any fellow employee of any type of work setting will at the very least have you an immediate visit to your HR directors office. The only difference here is that it was used on a work phone. Dude is a dumbass

Was it a work phone or are we assuming a president has a phone provided by AT&T?

Be completely honest with yourself here.

1) Does the picture truly offend you? (Serious question. When you see that picture, do you think it's passed around because people think less of the race depicted in the image in any way? Or is it just a kid doing a funny dance with commonly used slang [at least by the African American community]?)
2) Do you think this woman would have done or said anything if there was not an opportunity to sue? She may have been offended, but do you really think she did not know the financial situation of the "offender" and is exploiting that?
3) Do you not think $100MM is absurd!?!?!?!?!?!?

I think it's pretty safe to assume that the president of AT&T had a work phone provided by ATT

Of course it's stupid it's called a JOKE! Nobody uses the meme as a calendar to remind them it's Friday!

Oh and I just realized that if you type out the word n**** it gets censored but it doesn't do it if you type almost any curse word

100% agree with this. The only thing that makes me double take when looking at this story is that it is deemed so racist and offensive that it warrants a $100MM lawsuit.

They would have said if it was a work phone because it would make him seem even dumber if it was.

words offend people. Words create hostile and uncomfortable working environments. If you can't understand that, you're a fricking dumbass. Just because one person isn't offended by a word doesn't mean others aren't. You're mindset, my mindset, chickens mindset, etc are not the same That's why you don't even put yourself in that position to begin with, especially as the president of a major corporation.

You are forgetting (I think) that she had a hard-on for the company.
If the pic was a meme making fun of Asian drivers and she was Asian, the same situation could exist.

The point was he messed up by giving her "bulletin board" material.

And no, she'll never see $100M.

And we are talking about THIS context. Its not offensive to a logical person.

Fair, but in this context its pretty clearly not offensive and I have heard 1,000,000 times that using "as" is not offensive when referring to a group of "friendS" like this meme.

Sure. Do you call this the "N" word? If someone asked you what the "N" was, would you say "ni**as"?

That's not the point.

Certainly, the picture could be deemed offensive by some. One of those "some" was his assistant.

(I am arguing this from a business perspective.)

I'm pretty sure any person can find a way to be offended by another person's words or actions.
