Seems to me that the decline really started when they forced the subsidized St. Jean apartments into the area. O'Neal lane was all new, the townhomes leading toward the Shenandoah area were fairly well kept and safe, and Shenandoah area (George O'Neal all the way through Jones Creeek and Antioch) was middle to upper middle class. Then, the Jay's Donuts debacle happened. Seems like in a matter of 15 years, O'Neal Lane has gone completely to shite, there are pockets of trash all over Jones Creek and Coursey, and now even Antioch and Old Jefferson are struggling to keep the trash out. It's fricking sad how quickly an entire chunk of the city can go to shite because of section 8 and social engineering.

It’s sad because lake at white oak and white oak landing were prime spots to be in the 90’s

It seems like places where they build apartments eventually turns to shite when they start aging. That ghetto on S Harrells Ferry and O'Neal is pretty rough. Add Southpark and Sherwood Acres off of Coursey, the blue roof apartments at the end of Millerville etc.

St. Jean was the first, but they also crammed in apartments that back up to the north boundary of Shenandoah, at George O'Neal and Sleepy Hollow. Homeowners there had trashiness moved in next to them.

Yep. But when locals fight against these kind of developments they get called NIMBY's, racists, and rabble rousers. The projects almost always get railroaded through anyway. It's why most people don't even bother to fight anymore. They just leave. The cycle continues.

Yep. It happened really fast and it's terrible.

There are countless examples of this kind of crap happening when big apartment complexes get built in nice areas. It never fails, but yet again, we're told the sky is green when we know it's blue.

Prairieville is getting it now. Huge federally subsidized apartment complex on Airline coming up, injected into Dutchtown school district. More developments coming on HWY 42 that get cleared even when the local ordinances deem them illegal. You just can't fight it. I wonder where the next new 'nice area' will be?

Lol Shenandoah. What a shite hole it is becoming. It’s time to get out

What a stupid thing to say. It was 3 black guys in an old probably stolen car, not anyone that lives in Shenandoah. They could have done that in any neighborhood. Evil is out there no matter where you live.

Our neighborhood association somehow blocked a development on the vacant land in S Harrells Ferry near Forest Park.

I heard about that. A nice Section 8 complex right in the middle of one of our few good school districts. They are building one right across from L'auberge too I believe.

Everybody I know who lives by L'Auberge says their neighborhoods get hit every night by the friendly locals. I'd imagine this will just worsen the problem and all those new developments will go to shite even quicker.

I'd imagine there will be an increase in crime in some of those newer neighborhoods on Nicholson.

Imagine the crowd in L'Auberge on the first of the month. They'll be able to walk to it.

Unfortunately those kinds of crimes of opportunity can't really be stopped without gates or fancy HD cameras at every neighborhood entr(still useless if in stolen car).
Yahoos driving around looking for the easy target of a lone walker carrying a nice smart phone.

Yea. Nothing worth stealing in the ghetto I guess.

Oh shite. Poor indigo park is getting tax credit next door? That sucks. They already have to deal with the smell and Gardere in general.

I'm not sure of the name but that complex going up across from the casino has Federal Housing Authority signs up

Perhaps outside of the state?

Seems like every city in LA is experiencing increased risk for crime

It’ll be tax credit. Right on top of indigo park. Sucks to be them.

I drive by there almost every day and never even noticed the signs.

How far can this robber get with an iPhone that's locked with the victims passcode?

3 or 4 times at night but none very close at all. There was a long Nextdoor thread about one of them. I wasn't the only one who heard it. That incident was apparently at Sherwood Acres on Coursey. The sound carries pretty far at night.

Woodland Ridge itself is fine.
