Have a house with six figure equity, but it's not quite half way to paid off. Have a pretty good paying job and six figures in savings/investments, but do not have $56k net worth because of house note and school loans
I don't think you know how to calculate net worth.

10% probably. 1% of income? No way.
I read it as 6 figure income. The statement was 1% anyway and no way $100k is in the top 1% of either.

Surely someone is going to post their assets vs liabilities so we could all see what their net worth is??

Scruffy's net worth is in the red.
Far in the red.

The same reason I don't remember shite about organic chemistry.
If you don't apply something you learn, you'll eventually forget it.
I was fortunate to be raised in a business, those frickers started teaching me accounting when I was 6.

Bull crap
The concept of net worth is pretty easy.
Everything you own (you could sell/cash in) minus all your debt.
Right?

complete nonsense
the irony, of course, is that the actual greedy ones are the poor and middle class who want to take legally obtained property from those who have more than they do...but what then...well, it these do-gooders are honest with themselves, they'll quickly start writing checks to the REAL poor people in Africa, Asia, and South America...don't see that happening
I notice the commies always talk about CEO's when complaining about the wealth/income gap and never mention movie stars and athletes...why, because it all about their ignorance and greed...they don't care that Drew Brees has a 100mm contract, but whine incessantly about a CEO making 50mm. They can easily see that they can't do what Drew Brees does, but in their stupidity think they can run IBM...
If the poor and middle class want more, then go get it the same way the 1%ers do. There's no law stopping them, there's no caste system, there's nothing but their lack of ability and motivation...oh wait, so the problem is not that there is an income/wealth gap, but there is a talent/motivation gap and it will continue get worse and technology amplifies the differences in ability
poor people are a pain in the @#$

I think you would be shocked at how many people live paycheck-to-paycheck, even those with higher incomes.
same article 5 signs Americans are broke
quote:
In fact, 67% have saved less than six months' worth of expenses, and 50% have saved less than three months' expenses. Over the past year, the number of Americans with at least three months' expenses in savings declined from 45% to 40%.
Furthermore, the savings conundrum is not limited to only lower-income households. "Americans continue to show a stunning lack of progress in accumulating sufficient emergency savings," explains Greg McBride, CFA, Bankrate's Chief Financial Analyst, in a press release. "Even among the highest income households — those with annual income of $75,000 or above — fewer than half (46%) currently have a six-month savings cushion."
