And that shite with having you bring your own bags

They give you boxes. You don't have to bring bags.

having your cart inspected when you leave is very off-putting

I've never thought it was a big deal. Sam's does it too. Every wholesale club does it, since most items are too big to bag.

I love Costco for several items. The coffee is very good and cheap, and precooked or frozen foods are high quality. Seasonal items are on point (though they quit selling charcoal way too early in Colorado. Before football season even begins). If you west reading glasses, you'll save the amount on the cost of membership with one pair. Plus, they stand by their products, and have a great return policy. It's also nice to know they pay their employees a living wage, unlike every other box retailer.

Unless it's perishable (like produce), I buy most of my groceries there. And I'm a single 33 year old male.

If you don't like the membership, and feel is not worth it, they'll give you your money back. They're cool like that. Just try it out.

Their online travel is worth the membership if you never buy a jumbo pack of toilet paper.

Ive saved thousands over the years and taken some great vacations. Most of the time, not only do you save a good bit on booking 4 and 5 star hotels, they will give you a $200 gift card for jumbo packs of toilet paper.

Also, their house brand, Kirkland, is the shite.

Absolutely. We get most of our every day items there. Only thing we do not get is fruits/veggies and clothing as far as every day stuff.

Membership is only $50/year.

You can easily make up that $50 with one trip there.

I bought my Sonicare toothbrush from Costco(they usually sell them in these 2 pack deals..2 brushes and one main charging base and a travel charger), $100 cheaper than even Amazon prices.

clothing

Sometimes you can find deals on clothes that you would actually wear there. I always pass through and glance at what they have each time I go.

One time they were featuring expensive women's yoga pants/workout clothes there. Picked up a few items. Went home and looked online and saw that I had gotten them at Costco for half of what they retail online. Went back the next week to buy more...already gone.

So that is one thing I've learned at Costco....you see a good deal and are on the fence on it....just go ahead and buy it. Otherwise...it may not be there when you decide you do want it a few days later. Many items are just there on a limited basis. You don't want it....Costco has one of the best return policies of any retail store.

I am in my 2nd year of membership. As a bulk buyer, I go every two weeks or so. Their store brand, Kirkland, is 1000x better than any Sam's store brand. We get everything thing from their milk ($2.50 gal), to their staples, everything is very good.

This past weekend we were celebrating two birthdays and the 4th, so I grabbed a pack of filet mignons and 3lbs of Alaskan king crab legs. Their filets (which are great) were only $13 a pound, and the crab legs were $17 a pound. I got all this for $80. It would have been well over $100 anywhere else.

Their paper products, detergents, and staples are worth the membership alone.

Very true, and you can always return it later if you decide you don't want it.

Interesting stuff on Google about Costco...Costco's biggest moneymaker is their membership sales, and they lose money on their rotisserie chickens.

Milk, eggs, toilet paper, vodka and prime beef alone make it worth it.

Costco is awesome we have saved enough on rental cars to pay for the membership every year. Let alone all of their other excellent travel deals.

Kirkland brand items are always the highest quality at really low prices.

Costco is one of the few B&M stores still worth shopping at.

Milk is usually a dollar cheaper. Buy a gallon a week and you make up the membership cost

It depends what you're getting.

I have a Sam's membership solely to help my SO's daughter get contact lenses (they're even cheaper than Wal-Mart). Plus they have fairly cheap gas too.

The "Kirkland is awesome" aspect of Costco cannot be said enough.

My favorite dress socks are Kirkland. Their chicken and beef is top notch. Their razors are as good of quality as Gillette at half the price. And the $1.50 hot dog combo is legit on your way out.

My wife just reminded me that we recently spent a $300 gift card we got for booking a trip to Atlantis where we saved $1000 and got a free dining plan.

Well worth the $50 membership.

And Ive read that they pay their employees extremely well, which leads to superb customer service. People take advantage of it, as I have witnessed someone returning well used merchandise for full credit multiple times.
