I'm considering buying one. Is it worth it?

How often would you go?

Pretty good gas savings if it's close enough and convenient to fill up at. Might be worth it.

It is directly on the path to/from work for me. So it would be very convenient.

Yes.

Costco is the shite. It is definitely a lot higher-end and better run than say, Sams.

You dont need a membership. Buy gift cards online and they will let you in with gift cards without a membership. You're welcome.

I had one for the last year and didn't use it much, mainly because I'm a single male and bought 1 pack of paper towels and 1 pack of toilet paper and his lasted me beyond that 1 year membership.

The gas used to be a pretty good deal, but it's only a nickel or so difference now than Racetrak.

In my second year of membership but I've only been three times to shop and filled up my gas tank twice. I liked that they took American Express but now they've changed and only accept Visa. And that shite with having you bring your own bags and having your cart inspected when you leave is very off-putting. I don't think I'll be renewing.

I tallied up the gas savings and that alone paid for my membership last year. For the stuff you use in bulk, for me - paper products and liquor, it is worth it to shop there. ALSO, sign up for the emails. They have really good online specials on high dollar items that you might not see in the store.

Last thing, if you travel, their online travel service is awesome. You get an automatic 30% discount on rental cars. Every time I rent through them I get the same comment when I pick the car up - "Wow, that is a great rate."

Yep. We have both Sam's and Costco memberships. Sam's has cooler gadgets and outdoor type things, but I find the food prices tend to be cheaper at Costco. And the pizza is better than Sam's too

You were not utilizing it properly. If you are single...you don't go to Costco for just the bulk items.

Their alcohol area has great deals. Buy electronics there. Items for the home. If you have any nieces or nephews scope out the toy area there close to Christmas....can find really good children's gifts there(we got our nephew a Powerwheel corvette at Costco for only $99...would normally be almost twice that much in other stores). Can find camping gear, coolers, etc there.

Meat section has good quality meat. You can buy really nice looking flower bouquets there for like $15(great if you are dating and want to buy your SO flowers "just because").

Also...as a Costco member you can go on their website and get the best rates on rental cars.

Absolutely. I book trips and things like rental cars through them as well and they always seem to have great rates.
