Looking to build a house on the Amite River, about 2000 sq’. I’ve got some ideas on floor plan and elevation. Will be built 10-12’ off the ground.

Looking for advice on who to move on with the next step.

Me too.

The floor plan will be something someone somewhere else has already done and the elevation eventually will not be high enough.

That’s like saying you want either a Chef or a McDonald’s fry cook. I got some ideas about what I want to eat....

Get a draftsman, no self respecting architect wants to hear your ideas. Find a good GC though, he’ll put up with your shite as long as your not cheap.

Better check building code for flood elevations, size of pilings , , I’ve seen a lot of trashy places on the Amite, a few very nice,

Non licensed architect with experience is probably your best route, IMO. I work with one who does that on the side or I can give you the name of a newer architecture firm that I do work for on the side.

Isn’t an architect just an art school dropout with a tilty desk and a big ruler.

Think the other way around.

Checks out.

To the OP though... the scope of your work is draftsman level. No architect is going to want to take on a small river house, unless this is a second vacation home with a large budget. It doesn’t sound like that’s the case. I’d go with draftsman.
