I do not understand the OP.

Are you saying you have a career opportunity to travel the world - does this mean you'd be spending a month here, a month there for work and your family would be with you? I get the 18 month old and they duration of work part.

I've traveled a decent chunk of the earth for work but I'll save my two cents until I'm clear on what you're asking.

I'm fortunate enough to be in a career position where traveling the world could be a possibility. Definitely do it. I'm every fortunate to live in Germany right now and we travel everywhere.

Wish I were in this position right now.

Traveled to Europe twice for six weeks total over the last 2 years, would love to spend significant time there....obvious wannabe German is obvious...

To the OP, can't help with the kid tips but do what you can to get to Interlaken and travel south to Mürren/Lauterbrunnen...Berner Oberland is a pretty special place

Hong Kong was disappointing. Very chaotic and the Chinese are rude as hell.

One of the coolest places I've been to was Buenos Aires with my father. I would not trade that trip for the world.

In general I hate the Caribbean islands. They're always trying to make a buck off you somehow.

There have been three places I have visited that I would rather ESAD before visiting again:

Turkey
Jamaica
Alabama

Other than those three places, I have totally enjoyed every location in the world I have visited. We counted once and we were over 60 countries. The key is knowing the location will not adjust to your American way of living.

Even the bad stuff is worth experiencing (short of assault/rape/getting arrested/having all your money stolen, etc.), so I don't regret a thing.

If you come to a greater understanding of how other people do things, and you acquire a cool story to tell, it's worth it.

used to have to do a lot of international travel, this was over a period of about 4 years. By the end of that time, I was in Perugia, Italy and I speak to my wife and shes crying and my 6 month old has a very high fever, and some sort of virus and was very ill. I can remember saying I was done with travel at that point. Other than that loved every second of it.

Eastern Europe - Slovenia was really wonderful. Take a day trip up by Lake Bled. This was the best surprise of my travels. Ljubljana was a gorgeous city with great food and night life. Neat castle to visit and awesome outdoor activities right nearby. Lake Bled was just awesome and you can river raft and hike as well.

Estonia was nice, but only for a weekend because Tallin is not that big and there isn't much else to do there unless you take the ferry over to Finland.

Poland was cool and has good food. Krakow has a young scene with big university and lots of WWII stuff that is fascinating. Visit Auschwitz. Eat lots of pirogies.

Hungary has beautiful women and good food. Take fernicular railway and do one of the baths. Take a side trip to Hungarian wine country. Much better than you'd expect.

Czech - Prague is great. Beer, culture, just a fun place.

Slovakia - Bratislava is a lot like Prague. Beautiful old downtown. Classic Eastern Europe. Nice cathedral. Worth a day or two here. Stay downtown. Outside old downtown is ugly and somewhat sketchy.

Latvia - Riga is okay, but not worth the trip if it is out of the way. Lot of stag parties.

Croatia - Dubrovnik is gorgeous. The marble floor old city is something to experience and get some fresh seafood from the docks. Try to avoid cruise ship season as it sucks if they are in town. Split is beautiful definitely make a trip. Do not fly into Zagreb, that place sucks.

say what?

I should have said Istanbul. I have enjoyed the other areas of Turkey that we visited over the years. I can honestly say that Istanbul is the only city I have visited where I was scared the entire time. Unsure if it was because of the guide we had hired or the culture or whatever, but just never really felt safe in the city. Now, the sights and places we visited were awesome, but truly disliked the city and would not return.

are you black?

I stayed there for 3 weeks and loved it. I never once felt threatened or in danger. worst thing that happened was the cab driver tried to pull the old swap the 50 for a 5 and say you didnt give him enough money.

I spent about 2.5 years traveling the world for work. Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, India, Borats homeland and few places in Asia.

My wife didn't work, but I will say this, even with out her working I wouldn't of wanted a kid around. To much stuff to do that is so much easier than having a lunkhead around shitting everywhere. Also I hate kids.

Are you talking about living overseas or just continually traveling?

Living? Go for it. It's awesome. My kids have lived in Egypt, and now Dubai. They've traveled to Munich, London, Rome and Tuscany and so on and so forth. Not to mention all the once in a lifetime things they get to do in their own cities.

Continuously traveling? That's iffy with the kid. Jet lag is a bitch.
