Anyone travel the world, and regret it?

Surprisingly this forum seems relatively well traveled. So will ask the question.
Has anyone traveled to other countries and it didn't live up to what they believed it would, or enjoy the experience? Not talking about the standard American countries to travel to, Mexico/Canada/Carribbean/Western Europe/etc. I'm thinking more about places like Eastern Europe/Asia/South Pacific but obviously reasonably safe.
I'm fortunate enough to be in a career position where traveling the world could be a possibility. Not so much convincing myself, more of convincing the wife of doing it. We would have a 18 month old along with the trip, which certainly adds complexity to the decision.

Do it while you can. IMO
Before long, it won't be safe for an American to travel to many places outside of the US. You can already scratch the middle east and most of Africa off of your list.

Dude...you really need to ask us if you should travel the world for 18 months? If you don't like it you can always come back, its as easy as buying a plane ticket.

I appreciate dissenting opinions but could you elaborate? Seems like at that age with no school or any obligations would be the time to travel if you were able to.
Obviously I realize having a child adds a lot of major considerations. But not thinking about backpacking through countries. More of the idea of, a place for a month or two for the year.

A lot of Parisians were textbook assholes, as promised, but otherwise, it was nice.

Because you have a little baby, barely a toddler.
Number one, the kid isn't going to be able to enjoy the experience and will only be a puling, puking, pooping burden.
Just think...all these amazing places you can go to...romantic places...intense places babies can't go.
If you have the scratch to travel you have the scratch to hire a nanny to watch the runt.

Among the places I've been, Switzerland stood out. Also probably a country that would be okay if you're packin' the wife and a young one along with you. Tons of scenery, lots of free outdoor activities. Interlaken was incredible.
If money were no issue I would go to the following:
Bora Bora
Maldives
Lord Howe Island (NSW Australia)

Never regretted, hawaii was awesome when i went. I was disappointed to find out that anyone can gain access to the beaches on the island. Had a few bums ask me for money while staying at an upscale resort. Serious wtf, are you kidding moment for me.

One thing to keep in mid with an 18 month old is that a lot of countries are extremely stroller unfriendly. Buy one of those rucksacks you toss kids into.

I guess that sucks if you're at a resort, but we lived there for 4 years, and that was one of my favorite things about it.
