I've been eating a very modified paleo diet lately. I will say it makes you feel like a whole other person. I feel great and don't need coffee for energy anymore. I'm doing a very modified version as I still eat some non-paleo things such as sweet potatoes and beans on occasion. However I've cut out virtually all grains, dairy, sugar, etc.

Anyone else reaping the benefits of this lifestyle?

I disagree with the general premise of the Paleo diet and have a disdain for fad diets (though this one has been around a while)

I just eat healthy

I try to eat bacon with every meal.

Does that count?

Did the paleo diet for about a month and it sucked.

I could see doing it lose weight, but eating it as a lifestyle just doesn't make sense. A life without cheese, milk, bread, potatoes, and sugar is not a life worth living IMO.

Not sure what's fad about a diet that seeks to mimic eating based on the evolution of our species

I've been doing this since 2009. Sweet potatoes were never off-limits.

I have been essentially "paleo" for a few years. It has really worked for me, but to each his own.

My modifications include adding some occasional rice, and I certainly do the tubers.

FWIW, mainstream paleo is getting friendlier and friendlier to adding in some legumes, if it agrees with you.

Most people forget that paleo is supposed to start out as an elimination diet.

From the starting point, after about 30 days, you SHOULD reintroduce (one at a time) certain foods to see how you perform, sleep, feel etc.

Personally, reintroducing beans was OK, cow milk not so much.

Eliminating sugar should help just about everyone.

Sure. And with my metabolism I'd look like an AIDS patient and wouldn't be able to bench my body weight.

That wouldn't be very healthy.

Has nothing to do with diet.

Modern diet leads to problems. Modern hygiene is OK.

Plenty of calories to be found in a paleo-esque approach. Coconut, avocado, etc can really pack it on.

Earn your carbs, eat your carbs.
