I'm trying to lower my stress and seek an alley to balance and understanding in life.

Any tips for beginners?
Any books I should read on the topic?

what do you mean by "your limit"? Is meditation supposed to induce sleep?

It's a game changer. Morning and night. It's easier when you can add prayer. It's pretty much the same thing.

I do. I want to get into yoga but haven't really yet. I meditate in nature a lot. And not to get all... whatever, but meditating on Pslams and other scripture is peaceful. Reading sort of passively or listening to it on audio book. Or while playing classical or noodling on guitar. Meditation is very important to me.

For Catholics, in particular, and Adoration chapel is a solid place for quiet reflection. Few others I know simply go to their church on their way to work for about 15 min each morning when there isn't a service.

Every day. Usually at night. No books needed...just sit down and count your breaths

Yes man. It's a quiet place with no distractions to get centered. It's hard to meditate with a 4 year old asking for cereal.

I wanted to try transcendental meditation because I heard it's a really good way to meditate but I don't want to get into any weird shite.

Meditation when done correctly is phenomenal. I would never make it through the day without it. It's a great introspective experience and almost overwhelmingly calming.

It is addictive.

Meditation is great. I don't do it enough. Makes me feel good most times.

Yoga is great, too.....Obviously, the breathing is somewhat intertwined with meditation.

Some people have running, some people have lifting weights, some people have yoga, some people have meditation. If you can do all of these things regularly, then, I say: "You need to get a job"

If you sit still in a silent dark area and begin talking to yourself about your problems and life in general you will unravel yourself and before you know it hours and hours will pass and you will emerge eventually in one of the most calm and completely empty states you've ever been in.

It's intense.
