Seems like it typically cost about $2k to move it a decent distance. Seems ideal for the west coast where you could move up the coast (Seattle, Portland, San Fran, LA, San Diego) and maybe a bit inland into Colorado (although dragging it through the mountains would suck).

No doubt it would have to be a certain kind of person to handle that close of quarters. Kids are a deal breaker for that type of living. Either single or an awesome spouse is the only way I see it feasible.

Because of the expense mostly. You almost have to custom build a trailer just to get the things you are mentioning. That alone can get into the thousands. Even if you build that on a flatbed gooseneck you go out and purchase, you are looking at a decent chunk of money for very little space. I can damn near pour a small house slab for what it takes to get a trailer ready for a tiny house prepped.
If you want a tiny house, and being mobile is what you are looking for, you can find box trucks at auctions for very cheap and build them out into some cool spaces.

Agree, but at least she is open about the idea later in life.

a "tiny house" development can be done right if you have some things (that our area doesn't, for the most part)

I understand the roles of flexibility and a lifestyle it can provide you. But I feel like it's such a crazed trend right now that in a few years the investment will have disappeared when you're ready for more stability with a home and no one wants to buy these anymore.

The issue with building a tiny house development in our area is people will just opt for mobile homes on a lot instead. You have to be in a major market where even mobile homes are expensive like Cali or certain areas of Florida.

My beach house is 1100 sq feet. My primary home us 2700.
To be completely honest, my family of three seems to be much happier when weaver in this home. We're never cramped and we spend more time together when we're here.
I honestly believe that the modern mega house is a complete waste of resources and they do nothing but provide so much space that a typical family never interacts with each other.
As a kid, I grew up in a 1600 sq ft ranch style home as a family of five. We somehow managed to not kill each other.

yeah there has to be a selling point for young people to spend money. you're basically aiming at yuppies without kids so you have to think of what sells to those people. lake charles ain't that

Once my kids grow up and I divorce my wife, I could see myself living in one that you can trailer. Seems like a good way to see the world.

I built a lot of 1300 sq ft living with 1 car garage vinyl siding houses on 1 acre lots right on the Calcasieu/Beauregard line to compete with the mobile home market and did pretty well with them but I would never go smaller than that here.
That market is still overlooked by a lot of builders here and we have a lot of $225K-$310K inventory competing with each other. Those 1300 sq ft house can be knocked out in 45-60 days too or 30-45 with really good weather.

I don't see any benefit over a motor home.
