Hey, better to be trapped in a high-paying, unfulfilling job than a low-paying unfulfilling job.

If it makes you "happy" then it's not a job. But have fun with your new Mary Kay or real estate gig.

I understand the issue here. I am at a place now where it would be difficult to move and earn the $$$ I earn. The old saying "I'd rather deal with a devil I know than a devil I don't know" applies here.

Yes. Oil prices are killing the budgets for projects. I'm projected to barely break 6 figures this year. I told my boss he needs to figure something out bc I have bills to pay and just bought a new wife and boat. Hopefully he doesn't call my bluff bc I have no college education and am pretty underqualified for my position.

Start trademarking random acronyms. 1 of them is bound to be worth $15 mil

Don't rub it in. It's embarrassing.

wouldn't say trapped, I've been contemplating retiring for some time but I'm getting paid to stay home more than I go to work and this will probably continue until mandatory retirement age so I'll probably keep sucking off of that teat and take the extra time to maybe look into starting up something of my own, I'll always do something

No shame in working when you're old.

And when I worked in oilfield services, there were people who were definitely trapped in the high paying job..for those without degrees, there weren't too many other positions to move to, and of those, they pretty much all involved pay cuts. Guys were making 120-200k, many without going to college and a lot were poor ol south Louisiana couillons who finally had money..so naturally, they spent it, and got trapped.

I was making good money for someone my age but I didn't like the future prospects of the job so got out while I still had ample room to make a career elsewhere.

They keep paying me and I delayed retirement because of it.

I feel like this is me. I really can't stand my job most of the time. Bad part is I feel trapped and I'm only 29. I just don't really know what else I could do and make the same kind of money.

Would take a 20000 pay cut to be able to shut off my phone a get off the grid a couple weeks a year.
