Wishing you could change the game and do something more fulfilling?

Pretty much. Lucky for me I've been submitted for a better (so-to-speak) position. Although this isn't the first time I've been "submitted" for a better position. Crossing my fingers nonetheless.

Most definitely. My child support is tied to current salary/industry. If I tried to be a social worker I would be underemployed and still owe same amount.

Yea, just got offered a job that might make me happier (mostly because I would be back home) but the money is too good and I don't want to take the risk of a lower pay miserable job. Struggling with the decision at the moment.

I am the the same position. I want a change bad but I can't afford take any pay cut.

Opposite for me. Trapped in a medium/low-ish paying job that I love because I don't want to risk going to a company that would undoubtedly have a far less flexible schedule and shittier work environment and potentially lower job security.

Yes. The writing was on the wall when this year's w-2 dipped down into 6 figures.

And even if you get an attorney to help get rid of that clause, the mom will shite all on you for depriving the child(ren) for mid life crisis or something similar, casting negative light on the career change.

Would love to implement my plan for "phased retirement" but still supporting kids in college and the last one starting in the fall. Not all plans come to fruition exactly as envisioned.

If I didn't have wife and kids, I'd join the military...biggest regret of my life is not enlisting. But I make too much $ now, and to take a pay cut and move my entire family would be selfish on my part
