e most important thing is there is no way in hell I would ever move from Chattanooga back to Louisiana. I love my family and friends in Louisiana. I miss the food a lot, but it's just not worth i

Agreed. I live in TX which isn't too bad (thank God I'm not in Houston hell) but if a position in supply chain analytics that pays well opens up in chatt, I am packing my bags.

Where do you live in Texas? What is better in Chattanooga besides the weather?

Ironman apparently didn't think so. Good ole boy club doesn't like we told them to F off.

Ironman 3 has a scene in it to purposely say Chattanooga has shitty internet.

I moved to Chatt recently. Really like it. Lived downtown for a year and just bought a house about 6 months ago.

Pros are about like everybody else has said. Cool, midsize city with plenty to do. Not huge, but large enough. I like the restaurant scene. Outdoor activities all around. Convenient to Atlanta and Nashville. My wife went to Atlanta last week. We're going to Nashville this weekend.

I would not say that crime is a major con. You aren't going to be living in the areas with consistent violent crime.

The biggest con to me is the school system. We don't have kids, but live in the Normal Park district. Outside of that district, you're probably going to have to go a little further out of the city.

A pet peeve of mine is that downtown and east Chattanooga are so spread out. Not a lot of places you'll be spending your time in the middle.

Grew up in Chattanooga. Parents and in-laws are still there. We may try to move back some day.

Lookout Mountain schools are shite unfortunately. Both in Georgia and Tennessee they only go up to elementary, and those are really nice, but then there is a huge drop off. Apparently they might build a middle/high school for Lookout Mountain, Georgia, but who knows when that'll get done? And then, you don't get all the perks of residence in Tennessee, like no state income tax. Signal Mountain has good schools and cool houses but it's no Lookout Mountain.

I was fortunate enough to live on Lookout for a couple of years, and it was very nice, can't beat the scenic views and outdoor activities. I was scared shitless driving up and down the mountain in extreme fog and snow a few times.

Negatives of Lookout and Chattanooga: it's like living in a big small town, everyone already knows each other and the Southern Baptist influence really made it a lot less 'inviting' and friendly than I was expecting.

I couldn't live on Signal just for the fact that the cops are some of the biggest assholes around, 3-5 mph over and you're getting a ticket, it's ridiculous.

That said I'm actually going back there this week.

Irony about the mediocre public schools is there's two of the most prestigious & expensive 'private/boarding' schools in the country located in Chattanooga in Baylor and McCallie

I give this advice to anyone pondering the same decision. The place you're moving from isn't going anywhere, you can always come back. Go experience something new. The worst case is that you return home with more life experience.

Do it.

I was born and raised in La. and spent 20 years in the bayou.

Moved away for 10 years and did the East Coast/Charlotte thing. My BIL family is from Chattanooga and I loved visiting.

I now live in Mississippi and have no intentions of moving back to BR. None!

My daughter moved there several months ago.....they love it. Home prices are very affordable, you can get a beautiful home for less than this deplorable State.

Take the increase and do not look back.

This State is worse than most third world Countries
