What happened to Woodridge? Didn't you ask about that neighborhood a few weeks ago?

Still looking there as well. Just trying to weigh different options.

A friend pointed this thread out to me yesterday but I didn't get a chance to respond until now.

I've lived on Hillpark for a little over 3 years. I really like the neighborhood. Seems to be mostly young families on my street or retirees with no kids. As others have said, it's nice having easy access to Bluebonnet (Mall, Parkins Rowe, various restaurants, 2 theaters) and you can get to the Siegen area quick as well. The neighborhood also feels pretty safe.

Before they built the Walmart I was opposed to it, but now that it's there I kind of love it. It seems to be nicer than most of the other Walmart's I've been in and it's easy getting in an out of it. Super convenient if you need to pick up something at any hour of the day.

I would say the cons are that pockets of crime still crop up occasionally, though that's nearly anywhere in BR. The yards are very small, but having the soccer field out there really helps. If my kids and I need more space to play something, we just go grab an empty field to play on (there's also 2 baseball fields, some fishing ponds, and a dog park there). I also wish there was a closer restaurant other than the La Carreta's.

Oh, and it'd be nice if the neighborhood had more trees and shade. Of course, when a big storm comes through like last week, I'm happy we don't have many.

I hope that helps.

Yeah, we bought a house in a cul de sac primarily because the backyard is huge for the neighborhood, and it had lots of covered patio space. We looked at a bunch of houses on both sides, and most of the yards were tiny with no room for even a table under the covered portion of the patio. I wanted enough room to be able to kick the soccer ball or throw the frisbee with my kids in the yard, and be able to have some covered seating area as well. I did add an additional covered patio to our house, and we love it.

Nice to have the pool nearby as well. A couple of neighborhood bar and grill type places behind the Racetrac that we could ride our bikes to would be perfect.

I live in the neighborhood also and have been telling my wife for a year now that I want to open a place there. It would be killer. Unfortunately I don't have the $$$ or background to make that happen. Really just a dream/joke of mine.

I have been living on Hillridge for the last three years. We have had zero problems. Everyone in the neighborhood has been really nice. Also, there are a couple of hotties that run in the afternoon.

Fairhill's amenities (neighborhood pool, tennis courts, playground, etc.) make it as good (maybe better) than Woodridge if you have kids.

It comes down to whether you'd rather a slightly bigger/nicer home (Woodridge) or more family-oriented things to do (Fairhill).

Bumping an old thread here.

My fiancé and I are looking at buying a home in the next couple of months and have liked what we have seen of the homes in Springlake. There are a lot of homes for sale on the Springlake side though, but it is a big subdivision it seems. Is this still a desirable place to live or are people trying to get out because of crime or something being built? Those who live there, how are you liking it?

Almost bought a house 6-7 months ago on Hilltree but it failed all sorts of things on the inspection. Glad it happened that way because I ended up getting a house I'm much happier with

frick any neighborhood with a homeowners association.

If majority hates HOAs, then why not revolt and get a petition going to ban it

80 percent is all it takes

if I moved into a neighborhood that had HOAs, I will lead the revolt. Trying wont hurt!

cookie cutter houses

bad crime surrounding you that affects those residents on a daily basis

They are building a new "springlake" neighborhood on Burbank near highland

In 10 years, it will be shite like Springlake

Has it gotten worse over the past couple of years? The threads I've read on here regarding the subdivision from a couple of years ago gave me the impression that anything beyond thugs pulling on vehicle doors was handled with the quickness by the sheriff station on Burbank. But I realize things can change quickly in subdivisions in that price range.
