Thinking about taking a vacation up there in the fall, in my little bit of research it looks like a decent city with 4 breweries. Just wondering where would be a good place to stay or visit if I venture up there.

Went a couple times last summer. Fun little town. I'd say just drive another 3 hours north and hit glacier natl park tho or 3 south and go to yellowstone. Only times I went were for concerts though.

Yeah, I don't know if I'd only go to Missoula for a vacation. It's a cool town, but not very big and you'll probably run out of stuff to do after a couple of days. Take advice from others and drive to Glacier National Park or some of the other nearby things to see. I rode across Montana on a bus in July several years back. Was a beautiful ride. Lots of scenery and meth.

Missoula is the more liberal, college, hippie, arguably more fun town.

Bozeman is the more scenic, more wealthy, more conservative town.

You really should take a day or two and visit Glacier National Park. Super pretty and well worth it. My father and I have backpacked through there and that was amazing. After we finished we did some sight seeing from a vehicle and that was equally as amazing. I would recommend at least 1 day here.

This is mostly true. Bozeman is a great town too.

I've been for work. Really nice. But as others have said, go a little farther.

So Bozeman may be a little better option, I assume it has more stuff to do and see

Not sure about that. Missoula has stuff to do, arguably a better drinking and arts town.

Bozeman, scenically, feels more like you probably want Montana to feel, however.

One day in Glacier would be just enough to piss me off. You need a week to get started good.

Come to Bozeman. You won't be disappointed.

Also, if you see a white Xterra with some LSU/Louisiana stickers on it, honk.

I'm heading into Bozeman the 16th. Looking at a piece of dirt south of there in West Yellowstone. I'd live there tomorrow if I could afford too leave today.

We rented a cabin on Flathead lake last July. I would recommend vacationing in Kalispell if I were you. It's about a 30 min. drive to Glacier and really close to the lake. Good restaurants and you can get the same beer you would have in Missoula.

Never been to Missoula but stayed in Whitefish and went into the park a bunch.

Whitefish is a neat little town and Glacier is the most amazing place I've ever been to or seen.

Spend the day/night in Whitefish then head over to Glacier National Park. Get an early start to avoid traffic on Going to the Sun Road.

While in Whitefish try the sampler at Great Northern Brewing Company
