Living in New Orleans made me appreciate that time of year. Not for what was done for Halloween, but for All Saints Day when the believers (like several of my elderly neighbors) would go to their family cemeteries to whitewash the stucco graves.

decent costumes are way too expensive to only wear for one day.
i put a fake orange pumpkin out by my front door so trick o treaters know i've got the goods for them.
i rarely dress up. i put on something i already own and some cat ears or a cowboy hat.

Adult Halloween parties are sad. Bunch of oldies trying to feel young again, but end up just standing around drinking like any other party but saying things like:

"you must be [insert costume]!"
"Did you see Amanda? Isn't she nuts!"
"Terry is so creative, how does he think of these things?"

One of our Directors used to open his house up on Halloween and what started up as a moderate gathering, grew to a big crowd rather quickly. Unfortunately as in most cases, Party+lotsa alcohol+ drunk work talk put an end to it. Maybe a good thing, nobody was calling for a cab back then.

What? I just went through your post history and everything you've ever said has been focused on shite you don't like or inconveniences you (except for that brief period where you were just racist). Why do you want to make other people unhappy like yourself? Do you just hate everything?

For fricks sake, just enjoy the time of work and try not to ruin other people's fun.

I enjoy whores and a good party.... but a lot of times it ends up being many folk's amateur hour.

But I can say that for a lot of people and a lot of dates. Many people just suck at a social life.

It's always been one of our favorite events because we participated as children and our children enjoyed dressing up and decorating for Halloween.

I like seeing all of the Halloween decorations starting to pop up because it means cool weather is around the corner.

I think people who hate it and people who rank it #1 are both really weird.

There is no reason to hate it. Kids like it, it can be fun, it's in the fall.

That said, if you're one of those, "it's much better than Thanksgiving or Christmas" people, get your life together, bum

It’s the only holiday I decorate for. I kinda like dumb shite and lights in my place for a few weeks a year. Skeltons, witches, headless corpses hanging out by the front door.

I turn into a kid again for Halloween. And that cool with me
