I'm trying to go a couple months without drinking to break the daily habit. I've quit smoking, dipping, and weed before this so I know i can whip it. Coffee is next.

I shot myself in the head with a large pistol because I was being stung by these flying Demons with tentacles like Jellyfish.

Pain was so intense I shot myself in the head.

I woke up in the dream with a terrible headache,a bloody towel around my head.

The Demon said "You can't get away that easy".

How do you drink 6 beers and a few whiskeys neat and still have motivation to get up and go to work?

I'm cutting back hard on weeknights for weight loss reasons.

I'm far from fat, but my gut is starting to round out and that is no bueno. Sleep improvement will be lagniappe.

Got a kid on the way, need to be healthy for that little fricker so I can be there a long time.

To be fair, he said either or, not both.

Just keep running, let your metabolism worry about it’s own problems.

Like somebody else said, it's either. not both. I rarely have more than 6 drinks total in a night. Sometimes If i only had 1 beer by 7 or so i would pour some whiskey to get that buzz. I wasn't drinking 6 beers then 6 whiskeys.

IDK i just never had trouble waking up with or without alcohol. I've always been a morning person. I wake up at 345 for work. I've been late once in the past 5 years and that was when my tranny blew

thanks man, just trying to make some positive changes. I'm tired of waking up all foggy with bloodshot eye

Good for you.

5-6 a night is definitely having both feet on the slippery slope. I find idle time and boredom are my downfall too. Also loving live music and people watching. On a scale from zero to barfly I am about a 5. At times a 7.

My hangovers now are getting worse and the sleep cycle is getting more disturbed as I get older. I wake up at 4 just in time to eat every second of my hangover. Has also triggered panic attacks too. While hungover.

Alcohol definitely alters your sleep cycle. Something you just didn’t give a shite about at 20. Just stay in bed til noon. Now I’ve got shite to do.

I'm like you with liking a few cocktails at night to unwind. I usually don't drink enough to be buzzed unless I'm downstairs in the man cave tossing darts with a few friends. Then we tend to hammer the stuff while destroying each other on the boards.

For quite a few years now I quit drinking any alcohol for Lent and don't cheat on weekends like some folks do. From Ash Wednesday until Easter Sunday I don't touch a drop.

Again, like you, that time of the year sees me not getting up in the middle of the night to pee as often, which is a good thing for getting solid sleep. Though I don't have any vivid dreams to go with it.

Oh okay. Because 6 beers OR 6 whiskeys every night is totally normal. No problem at all. I'm the a-hole.

Alcohol interrupts deep sleep.

It’s also common for people to not dream that use marijuana

How's it going cutting back?

Also, I strongly urge you to get some labs done to check your live enzyme levels. I had the same habit as you as far as consumption goes, but this has probably only gone on for 2-3 years. I just had some labs done and my liver enzyme levels were very high, and higher than normal, which could lead to several bad outcomes if I can't get the numbers down. I have to go back for another test in a month and have to cut back on alcohol and see if that brings the levels down. My difference from you is that I probably get less exercise than you, though I still get a decent amount (walk dog every day, play soccer once / week). I've also been eating pretty poorly in that same timeframe, so I'll need to change those habits too.

Good luck and hope all is going well.

It's going great. I've had a few beers on the weekend (like a 6 pack on saturday) but other than that I'm getting used to not drinking daily. I'm sleeping a lot better and I've lost a few lbs. People have noticed the difference in my face. The bad thing is in the evening when I was drinking i now have pretty bad cravings for sweets. I have my yearly checkup in a couple of weeks so we will see what the doc says. I feel pretty good.

damn, yeah that could be a kick in the arse to slow down. My last check up i didn't mention to the doc how much i drank and he never said anything about elevated levels

I love intense dreams. It's like being in a different movie every night.
