Ive been thinking about going to an AA meeting.

I knew a guy in the 90s who would go to meetings, and also go out to bars. The combination kept him from getting too deep into heavy drinking.

So going to meetings can’t hurt.

No idea what he said at the meetings because clearly he couldn’t talk about recovery.

If that’s what he said at the meetings, he was either extraordinarily popular or he was kicked out immediately.

I have got to where I can't wind down to sleep without having a few whiskeys or vodkas I keep trying to say I'm not doing it tonight but work stresses me the shite out sometimes. I get intense very vivid dreams, more than I used to when I was younger. I just dont want to bring on any health risks on myself. I'm as healthy as an ox basically but still.

You get used to them. Nice little break in the day.

I was normally drinking 4 to 6 craft beers or a few neat whiskeys a night. It's probably been about 4 or 5 years since I have gone more than 1 night (and those were rare) without drinking.

Holy crap. How do you sustain this? Good luck with everything. You’ll feel a lot better in the coming months if you stick to it.

Fever dreams, night sweats, shaky palms, and difficulty sleeping. All sounds normal.

Better and deeper sleep

Alcohol numbs emotions so people tend to have stronger emotion, more clarity and deeper sleep

Update: I have still been going strong. I feel like my daily drinking habit is broken. I made it through sober October and only slipped up once. I am still going 5 or 6 days a week without drinking and then maybe 2 or 3 beers while watching football. I went from drinking ~40 drinks a week to ~5.

I sleep a lot better, also dont go towards dark thoughts in the evening anymore. Knowing how much better I feel in the mornings now has made it easy to keep it up.

Edit: I did go on about a week binge in September when coyotes carried one of my dogs off.

When you are drinking, you don’t go into REM (dream) sleep.

That’s cool that they named the sleep after a band

Wait, you’re trying to get in better shape so you can go sit completely immobile for hours in a tree?

Go back to the bottle man.
