I've never been anywhere else in the US where the people drink as much as everyone here does. (Especially all you Catholics down south) Alcoholism is not even a real thing here. People would just say, "oh yeah, Bobby really likes to drink." Anywhere else party like we do?

Every area thinks they drink more than everyone else. It's retarded.

Michigan.

I find a lot of people in cold weather states of the Midwest hit liquor pretty hard.

ETA: My friend's mom from Michigan can be doing shots until 2 am and then be up at 7 am fixing everyone pancakes and eggs like June Cleaver. Never seen anything like it.

I don't know if I would agree with that. Each place has a little history and micro-culture that either enhances or reigns in a drinking culture.

Places like southern Louisiana, a chunk of the Great Lakes region (Wisconsin, Chicagoland, Michigan, etc.), and places that are historical boomtown/resource-based industry towns (Seattle, parts of Oregon, Alaska) have more comprehensive drinking cultures than elsewhere I've been or lived. At least that's been my observation.

For instance, even with its wine region, California doesn't have a strong drinking culture in my experience. People like to wake up at 7 AM on Saturday and actually do shite rather than sleep off a hangover.

I agree certain regions (upper Midwest, south Louisiana) drink more than others, but I think every region thinks they are big drinkers.

I think only people in Louisiana think we drink more than everyone else. Some of the Northeastern states could probably drink La under the river.

Just within the US? Probably not.

Internationally? Munich during Oktoberfest makes Mardi Gras look like a Mormon wedding reception.
